Thanks for sharing. This is very useful information. Also, I didn't know that zoomed also sells solarmeters.

I think there are a few different brands but I think they work like the 6.2 solarmeter. From what I understood of that article the 6.2 leaves some gray area and could lead someone to believe their beardie is getting proper uvb when in fact it isn't. That being said I personally will only be recommending the solarmeter 6.5

I was talking about a ZooMed Digital UVB Radiometer that is a complete analogue of Solarmeter 6.5

You are right, 6.5 is the best option. 6.2 is an accurate device, but it measures too wide a range of UVB radiation. 6.5 measures a narrow range on which the production of vitamin D3 depends. The problem is that 6.2 will tell you that you have UVB radiation, but it will not tell you whether this radiation has enough short-wave UVB, which is responsible for vitamin D3.

Yup, that is the difference between them that made me post the link to that article. I didn't know how to explain it in a technical sense that would make sense so I just posted the link lol.
You summed it up quite nicely though 👌 👍

That is Dr. Francis Baine's site. Arguably the leading brain on knowledge about lighting in reptiles and other creatures. Unfortunately, her site hasn't been updated in awhile and that article is over 10 years old at this point, but still lots of good information to be read on her site. Her facebook group stays a bit more active and up to date.
