I purchased my second beardie from Beth at Great House Farm last week. She will be mailing him to this upcoming week. I've never purchased a dragon online, as the first one I bought locally. And while I'm anxiously awaiting his arrival on Tuesday, I can't seem to calm myself down. I'm so nervous for his safety and quick arrival, and just down right stinkin' excited for him to get here it's unreal! I'm just sooo excited and happy all the time knowing that he will be here on Tuesday, I'm probably bugging my boyfriend with my non stop chitter-chatter about him. I've already set up his cage, bought him food, and completed everything he needs for when he arrives here! The only thing I haven't figured out yet is what to name him.
How have some of you dealt with this?
Also, I've been reading around the forums and a lot of you give your beardies baths when they arrive in the mail. Is there anything else I need to do or be cautious about when he gets here? I know I need to give him his space, so how often would you think would be ideal to handle him within the first couple of weeks?
I would at least give him a few days before you start handeling him. He will most likely be stressed out from the move so it's best to let him settle in and calm down. But after being in his new tank, eating and getting his bath, he'll start to warm up to you soon
I received my baby boy Aiden today. Literally just 30 minutes ago. And he is alert, he looks healthy, but I noticed that he isn't using his left hand. It is in a sense tucked under and he is walking around on his wrist.
*Please disregard this message, I've spoken with the breeder and several others and have been informed this is something that will fix itself over time*
I spoke with both Beth and TheWolfManTom, they both told me that he will be fine. I was just scared and wanted a quick reply so I sent messages to a couple of breeders, however I've been told he should grow out of it. Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll post more pictures later, his colors are amazing and pictures do NOT do justice to him.
He is doing so well. I'm so shocked.
Since Tuesday he's eaten 40 crickets, 20 reptiworms, his greens, and applesauce with oliveoil. He hasn't poo'd yet and he looks like a little basketball right now.
He's just so cute, I can't stand it!
I love the picture with his mouth open, I think they're so adorable when they do that.
If he becomes a big arm waver, you have to get that on video! He looks like he's a lot of fun

He is a huuuuge arm waver! I've got it on video, but it's kind of blurry. I'll have to see about getting another video or uploading the one I have on here a little later. (I'm being bad at work right now and browsing the forums instead of working) Hehe. He also loves to play peek-a-boo! There is a stick in his cage that blocks his view of me from his basking spot if I'm at my computer. And he will try to prop himself all the way on his toes to see me. So I'll move my head down and he'll try to crouch down to see me from underneath of it. It's so adorable.
I agree with jeserah- a bent wrist like that could be a sign of a break or metabolic bone disease. Sorry if im worrying you but its best to get it sorted

I spoke with both Beth and TheWolfManTom, they both told me that he will be fine. He is actually using it all the time now. The only time I see him not using it is when he's in his plastic tub and I'm feeding him crickets, and I think that's mostly lack of being able to grip. I'm putting some repticarpet in there today to fix this.
