Hi!
So i'm just going to get straight to the point. It's been a pretty busy week for me and I haven't been able to get my bearded dragon out that much. I still feed her and put her in her sleeping spot every night, and she is usually just calm, kinda sleepy. But tonight, when I went to put her to bed, she went ballistic on me. Puffing her beard and opening her mouth super wide, and jumping to face me whenever I moved. This has NEVER happened, I've only seen it happen once, and a lot less aggressively, when she met my dog for the first time. She is in her bed and has closed her mouth, but her beard is still puffed and she is wide awake. Is this what happens when you don't love on your beardie? They start to hate you? Can anyone help me know how to fix this so she doesn't hate me forever. Maybe I just spooked her when I got her up?
Thanks in advance and sorry for being obnoxious if this is supposed to be incredibly obvious.
Are you the only person who has access to your dragon ?
I ask as sometimes children will torment a pet when adults are not nearby. The dragon is doing this because it's scared , so may have been tormented or hurt by someone.
The other possibility is it's being tank territorial.
Another possibility is if you are guy with bushy dark colored beard , the dragon is seeing your beard as a territorial display - don't laugh … ok yes LOL , it happens … you will have to either loose the face bush or cover it.
Give it time and be patient, even totally wild dragons will tame up and become PERFECT pets if the keeper is kind and patient.
You need to earn it's trust and it needs to learn you are not going to harm it.
Behavior has a lot to do w/ the lighting in the tank --- do you have any colored bulbs in the tank - what kind of lighting do you have ? UVB? Brand and bulb?
