My African fat-tail gecko tried waxworms for the first time. She had to poke it a few times with her nose and pinch it a few times with her mouth. After about 10 minutes of testing it, she finally ate one. Then another.
It's the first time she's had anything other than crickets.
About 3+ years ago I got her. She didn't eat anything for the first 6-7 months, which caused her to lose a lot of her fat. Then I brought home a 2nd fat-tail, Bubba, to take care of over the summer for one of my teachers. She started eating when we brought him home. (then right before we brought him back, HE stopped eating & died a week after we returned him) She's eating normally now, but won't get any fatter. We bought her a heating pad & put that on the bottom of her cage (we covered it with a piece of cardboard and her repti-bark bedding) since her light wasn't warming her up. She's gotten a little fatter since then, but not enough. She still looks like she could break if you touched her.
Is there anything else I can give her that'll make her gain weight? If I keep giving her waxworms, will that put on weight?
