My African fat-tail gecko tried waxworms for the first time. She had to poke it a few times with her nose and pinch it a few times with her mouth. After about 10 minutes of testing it, she finally ate one. Then another. :) It's the first time she's had anything other than crickets.

About 3+ years ago I got her. She didn't eat anything for the first 6-7 months, which caused her to lose a lot of her fat. Then I brought home a 2nd fat-tail, Bubba, to take care of over the summer for one of my teachers. She started eating when we brought him home. (then right before we brought him back, HE stopped eating & died a week after we returned him) She's eating normally now, but won't get any fatter. We bought her a heating pad & put that on the bottom of her cage (we covered it with a piece of cardboard and her repti-bark bedding) since her light wasn't warming her up. She's gotten a little fatter since then, but not enough. She still looks like she could break if you touched her.

Is there anything else I can give her that'll make her gain weight? If I keep giving her waxworms, will that put on weight?

i dont reccomend using bark they can eat that and get impacted

what are her temps?
what is her humidity?

what do you normally feed her?
what caclium/vitamin suppliments do you give her and how often?

does she have any hiding places? how many?

do you have pics of her?

I don't feed her off the bark; I put a jar cap down and put her food in that so she doesn't eat the bark.
I'm not sure of the temperatures & humidity, I don't have a thermometer. I've been feeding her mostly mealworms and crickets, but sometimes I give her a few waxworms. She has a log she hides under, so 1. I don't have any right now, but I'll get some when I can.
Recently she's been...jumpy. My mother told me that she and my sister took Africa out and had her running on the floor & that Africa bit my sister twice (serves her right >:[). I didn't think that would do anything to her until I took her out one night and she tried jumping from my hand. I caught her right before she hit the floor, but it scarred both of us. -.- Is there any way to stop her from jumping?

it doesnt matter they can eat it and it should not be used use bed a beast

also since you dont know temps or humidity this could be why she is not gaining weight

if it is not warm enough for her she cannot properly digest her food and then cannot get the nutrients she needs from her food

also she should have at least 2 hides one on the warm size(above the uth) and one on the cooler side

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
