So a while back I posted about a beardie I though was blind in one eye. He looked to be in rough shape. After talking with the folks at the shop they started trying to work with him some. All they were doing however was wiping at it with a wet paper towel.
This little guy is the bitiest beardie I've ever seen. I've been keeping tabs on him several times a week since I first saw him. He has bitten me more times already than every beardie I've had combined lol. And that was while he was still at the reptile shop lol. No one wanted him because of his eye and his disposition. I finally made Christina feel sorry enough for him to let me bring him home.
The agreement is to rehab his eye and work on taming him with the understanding he may be rehomed at that point. They also agreed to take him back at the shop at that point to.
(But lets be honest here, she won't have the heart to rehome him) 😉😉😉 she is already fawning all over him (from a safe distance lol)
Anyway I need advice on how to treat his eye 👁 I know I can use diluted honey 🍯 but what can I use the flush it that won't burn, sting, or irritate it? How often should I try to clean it out? Is there anything else I should be doing?
I can now see that his eye is still there. It looks like he might regain his vision even, but the tissue surrounding it looks concerning. I don't have great pictures yet (you try taking pictures of a wolverine, a Tasmanian devil and great white hybrid) I'll post the couple I have, if you zoom in you can see the tissue I'm concerned with. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

I think the raw honey wil be helpful....most anything you use in the eye will feel odd to him or sting to a degree. Not sure what else you could try.
This lil guy has been through so much already, I don't want him to be afraid of me because I'm causing him pain or discomfort.
I know it's going to ge a chore but I want to make it as easy on him as possible.
Do you think I should use a Q-tip or a dropper to treat his eye?

Whichever way you can do it the quickest. The raw honey should hopefully help with infection and eye won't need flushing out . This is a long standing injury so hopefully it will heal, doesn't look at all like a dogbite, more like a sibling beardie sratched it. Has he eaten anything ?

I know that people make compresses from warm tea bags (used to brew tea). These compresses reduce swelling and constrict blood vessels. This is due to the caffeine content in the tea leaves. I don't know if this will help you, but it is the only natural remedy I know of for the eyes.

He was eating good at the shop but I just brought him home around 2 pm yesterday. He didn't eat here yet. I'm hoping he starts soon though. He has put on some size since the first time I saw him.

I've heard of that I'm just not sure how I could keep it on him. This lil guy is a live wire.

Also if you're afraid of being bitten you can wear gloves while you handle him.
He bit me 3 times today lol.
This lil bugger is friggen lightening quick. Luckily his bites don't hurt to bad yet.
I mixed some raw honey 🍯 and water last night and applied it to his eye. It actually seemed to make it worse. It was really swollen today. I used a luke warm cloth with plain water to clean it and the swelling seemed to subside quite a bit.
I've made him a vet appointment for 7am Saturday morning. I'm hoping they can prescribe something to clean it with. I really think if I can get whatever is going on under control he will be able to see from that eye. When it's cleaned up his eyeball looks intact.
On a positive note he has eaten from our hands a couple times now. He is much better with Christina than he is with me. The only time he's tried to bite her was when she was cleaning up a poop. He didn't like the paper towels lol.
I also think she is already attached to him so I doubt we'll be rehoming him after he is better 😁

I wonder if it caused his eye to itch so he might have started rubbing it on his decor. I've had only good results with raw honey. What kind do you have, can you post a picture ?

I used this same bottle with Ruby before she passed and it worked great for her (different issues)
I wasn't home today (work) so I can't say he didn't rub it on something.
I don't want to cause him anymore problems though so I'll probably just keep it clean until I see the vet.

Hello,

He is a little cutie, hopefully he will tame down some! His eye doesn't look too bad. Maybe the
raw honey will help out, & that his eye sight will come back.
Keep working with him & eventually he should become adjusted to his new surroundings.

I don't mind the biting, it doesn't hurt yet and he isn't doing it to be mean. He is just really scared. He is already settling in here some. He only has stress marks when I have to work with him. I've started shoving food in his mouth when he hisses at me, he gets VERY indignant about it lmao.

I can't even imagine what he's thinking when he starts hissing and suddenly bam - food appears in his mouth lol.

It's funny to watch. He bites it, spits it out/trys to, then realizes it's food and isn't sure if he should just eat it or be mad because I tricked him. And it all happens in about 1-1/2 second.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hey! We’re the same age! That’s cool!
Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
