Adventures of Kai today

Kai hasnt pooped in this will be the 6th day so he got a nice warm bath today which he really enjoyed. He drank in the water and also some drops from my finger and enjoyed it all. But I noticed a whitish tip of his tongue so of course Im freaking out...it doesnt come off with the water, it doesnt look infected or irritated or anything. So I attempt to open his mouth to get a better look and got a fierce chomp to my finger from his very sharp teeth! (Luckily I found on this forum that the whitish tip is normal for some dragons...he doesnt free roam and its not something artificial). Anyway, I felt his belly well and its soft, flat and squishy. Vent looks marvelous. Hes just a slow pooper but he may go today. He rode around on my shoulder after he dried off. After basking, he got a hornworm and 2 superworms. I also left him another dandelion flower but he is a one-and-done kind of guy. Here he is now, all relaxed and happy and loving me still. He is a true dragon, never blackbeards, just goes in for the kill haha. Hope he enjoyed his human meat!

Thanks! Yeah, he is a happy dragon. Your Apricot looks amazing too! I was surprised how thirsty he was in the bath though. I think Ill give him a bath once or twice a week now since he enjoys it so much.

Just watch him really closely. My boy Zen aspirated drinking in a bath (it was shallow also) he died from pneumonia a short time later. I was standing right there when it happened, and it still happened.

Oh wow...did it happen really fast? Because a short time ago he was gaping while basking and did open and close his mouth once or mahbe twice. But no blackbearding or coughing or anything..he looks really happy and content. He doesnt usually gape though but I have seen him do it before. Did it take a while? He did stick his head under but I didnt grab him up because they say not to do that. He lifted his head on his own and this is about 5 hours after his bath that he did that.

It was immediate. He was drinking (the first time ever at 4 years old) all the sudden he dunked his whole face and got strangled on the water.
We did cpr on him for hours. He seemed to recover, but we moved to Washington a couple months later. On a 2 day trip he developed pneumonia and passed on day 3.
Now I caution everyone about baths. It literally took like a second and a half.
For the record if it ever happens, get his nose straight down and mouth open. (They can't expell the water on their own) You can VERY lightly do chest compressions ( but be exceedingly careful, it would very easy to break ribs) you can also very lightly blow air into their lungs (again be EXCEEDINGLY careful, it would be very easy to destroy their lungs)

Oh wow...yeah Kai was drinking underwater too for some reason he was super thirsty! He normally wont ever drink for me so I didnt realize how thirsty he was. He only gets bugs 3x week and is still a poor veggie eater. He drank drops from my fingers and then he started drinking the bath water! I felt like he had a lot! Too much? But I didnt stop him cause i didnt want to jerk his head up or anything and he picked his head up on his own. No distress at all right after drinking, in fact he was calm and happy and pooped soon after, had 2 supers and a hornworm and was real active climbing on his stuff. His urate was a full white blob but maybe dry (see pic). But you could tell he felt better after drinking and pooping. Just about an hour ago he was basking and i think gaping but he looked content not in distress. Ugh beardies! Now I hope he didnt aspirate! Im not there but Ill see him first thing in the morning. I bathe him in a shallow rectangular tupperware dish with water only up to his elbows.

Drogon <3 RIP 2019- March 11, 2024 Lily: new girl in the house
@xp29 I'm so sorry you had to go through that! :(

Lily absolutely loves baths... a little too much. Sometimes she's swimming and likes to play water monitor, so we try to keep her head above water when she's having fun

Thank you 🙂
I've had a couple that loved water also. Chomp would jump back in when I got her out if I looked off lol.
But after Zen I'm gun shy. I think water is doable but just with abundance of caution ⚠️ ⚠️ 🙂

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
