I thought I would update you all on Blue's progress. He is getting more and more active everyday. He has started to eat his greens on a regular basis! So yesterday I made him a special salad with hibiscus flowers, collard greens, and a tiny bit of banana. He really liked it and ate most of it. He is also stating to eat more crickets then he was I think he is completely settled in now. I have also found that if I put a small amount of water in a shallow dish he likes to lay in it and enjoy his time. I'm wondering if this will cause a skin issue or anything?
HI! Congrats on Blue eating salad on his own and more crickets, wish ours would, too. How old is he? I don't think the water dish will cause any skin irritations, they like being wet on occassion. It's the humidity you have to watch out for. I take it you have high humidity alot in Florida. There's a % of humidity you shouldn't be above, check out the care sheet on here. I always give our dragons baths, then water from a syringe, but not in their tanks. I like those to be dry. We live in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, so not a humid, but we also get alot of mist, which ups the humidity. So I leave the water for outside the tank. There's a metre that can measure humidity in their tanks. Some digital thermometers that have the humidity reading.
I think it's great that he's eating his greens. Did you find the nutrition list at www.beautifuldragons.com? It's a great list of foods/flowers/leaves. Gives comments on alot of foods and is colour coded. We've been referring to it for 4 years now. We have 4 dragons and are fostering 2 others for a friend who's gone to Japan for a year. Our dragons aren't babies anymore, Rubio, our youngest, just turned 2 yrs old. Lonzo is 7 1/2 yrs old, Sweetie is 4 yrs old, Leo is about 3 yrs old. Didi (he's 5 yrs) and Loiosh (she's 6 yrs) are our foster beardies. We have a houseful, considering we live in a 1=bedroom apt. We also have a golden gecko (Rocco) and a beta fish (GianCarlo). Can you tell my hubby is Italian?
Any time you can get some pics up here, that would be great, I love beardie pics, can't get enough.
Blue is about 8 weeks old! He is tiny! I had another one a few years back but he passed away. I did go to beautifuldragons.com on his salad choices! I think it's a great site. I love the color coding.
Yes we do have high humidity here in Fl. I have been watching that very carefully. I think the a/c helps a bit I do take him outside but not for long since the humidity has been very high the past couple of weeks.
