Dewey is now 18" long and I'd like to order some Superworms for him to add a little bit of a variety. I normally order my crix from Ghanns and they do offer supers, but they only offer large which they estimate to be about 2". I'm concerned about the size considering the cautions everywhere regarding some beardies not being able to digest them. Will these be ok or should I try to find smaller supers elsewhere?
These will be ok, as he is of a size where he can digest them. When they first come get them into a bigger home with oats for bedding, enough to burrow in. Pick out a few freshly moulted ones (whitish) and feed just one or two, leave it a few days to make sure hes digesting them and your off!
I got Superworms from there and they were great! Louie did really well with them...I did see some undigested pieces of worm in her poop..nothing alarming tho. She is about 18 inches long. I gave them too her after she laid 23 eggs and I needed to fatten her up!
Thanks for the quick response. By oats are you referring to regular plain oatmeal? I'll be swinging by the super market today so I can pick up whatever's needed.
Dewey has been getting supers for a couple of weeks now and so far he's doing great. He really loves them too which is a plus. Looks like I'll be buying more of them since I only started with 25!
I have been told to use the traditional oats, not quick oats, but yes it is oatmeal. I bought one big container and that was enough for a layer of bedding in an 18 gallon tub. I put carrots or other veggies in every other day.
