I've had Hermes for over a year, and he's about a year and a half old. He hasn't eaten in a week. He wouldn't even eat any strawberries, which are his favorite. He ate a couple of pieces of kale yesterday, but he refuses to even acknowledge the dubia, even when I hold them in front of him. I think I may have moved his heat lamp for a couple days at my parents, but I corrected it as soon as I could.
He's not really old enough to brumate (I don't think) and he can be kind of moody sometimes, but I've never seen him like this. I just brought him back to his 4x2x2, but at my parents he was in a 40 breeder with the correct UV and heat at both places.
It's been a week since he's eaten any dubia, and I'm starting to get pretty nervous.
Hi there....he is definitely old enough for brumation or just a slow down period. His lack of appetite is 100% normal, there are many nervous owners that post the same concern every fall/winter. Just about every dragon I've ever owned does this, and any of the long time dragon owners here will tell you the same. So....don't be worried, or fuss or fret or jump through hoops to get him to eat. He will be fine.
Thanks. I've read through about a billion posts about this, but all of them seem to have babies or juveniles, and I hadn't heard of any of them going over a week without eating. He's skipped a few days before, but not like this.
But thanks for letting me know it's normal. I'll keep offering food until he decides he's hungry again.
