A Few Questions in One

EDIT: I have read your advice and have upgraded his lighting :) Check out my update post below!

Hi all!

I just purchased a Thrive 2-in-1 digital thermometer/hygrometer for my bearded dragon habitat. I’m mainly trying to find out if the basking lamp is hot enough for him in his favorite spot (as well as make sure the humidity range is good in the tank). Unfortunately, the thing has awful instructions and I can’t find any videos on the product. Does anyone use this specific device or have any advice as to where I should place the probe in order to get the best results? Thank you in advance!

Aside from that, I forget what kind of lamp we have, and the name of the light. It is supposed to be a two in one for lighting, but it doesn't feel warm enough. Included are photos of the thermometer, as well as part of the enclosure, and a close up of the mesh lid material.

That light fixture would need to be replaced. Thank you for checking as you are literally going to save your beardies life. Hold on, others will come post behind me with the specifics.

I agree, I don't see a uvb tube. You might be running a mercury vapor bulb and those can work but it's very hard to get the proper uvb and basking temp dailed in with an all in one bulb. The best solution is to use a long tube such as an Arcadia pro t5 desert 12% or a ZooMed t5 10.0 and run a separate basking bulb. Like that you can adjust bith bulbs for optimal conditions. You can still position the to create over lap so your beardie doesn't have to choose one or the other.

Your best bet for the hygrometer is one that is just that - Exo Terra sells them you can find them online at Amazon - the T5 can sit on top of your screen you have a wide hole type - the distance would be 8-10 inches directly above the basking decor piece - the MVB are good for heat but not so much UVB as you haft to consider distance and screen as well - its hard to get it just right - I recommend going w/ a regular solid clear bright white bulb some examples are Exo Terra Intense Flukers basking or a Arcadia Halogen - you can get the Flukers on line thru Walmart --

Thank you for all your responses! We bought and just finished setting up the Zoo Med Reptisun T5 HO hood with the Zoo Med T5 HO 15W 10.0 UVB bulb. I hope this is right? I'm trying to make sure everything is correct! Also, we swapped out the light he had for a 100W basking bulb from PetSmart.

We bought a new thermometer, opting to go without a hygrometer for now. The humidity in his enclosure is always below 40%.

That is one of the two lights that's most often recommended here 👍
Humidity is really a none issue for healthy beardies. The only time you really have to be mindful is if they have a respiratory illness or some such. I've kept beardies in Florida with Humidity in the 90' and in Nevada with it as low as 2% it hasn't caused problems either way. One of the big breeders in Florida keeps her brood outside. There is no way she can control humidity in that environment but her guys look good.
This is a video of her beardies.

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
