A few pictures of Cactus Jack 🌵 from today.

After much squirming and hissing and attempted bites he finally let me hold him (sorta) for a bit. Notice I have my fingers balled up and tucked out of his reach? He is still very scared and wants nothing to do with us, but I expect it will be that way until we can get his eye healed up. I don't think he is eating anything yet. If he don't start very soon I'm going to start giving him critical care. He is to small to not be eating. He can't afford to be loosing weight.

It's obvious that he's very afraid. I mean, he doesn't attack just because he's angry. I think he'll get used to it and stop feeling afraid.

Have you tried holding the palm of your hand (they can't really bite into the palm) near him and wait a bit?

The lil turd spits them back out. He has killed 5 silkworms already without actually eating them.
I've got my work cut out for me with this one lol

Yeah I'm looking forward to it to, but right now I'm afraid I'll loose an ear or the tip of my nose lol.
I clean his eye with Luke warm water whenever it needs it, but no improvement yet. He has a vet appointment for early Saturday morning, I'm hoping they can prescribe something to promote healing.

I agree.
His bites are starting to hurt a little but he seems to calm down quicker than he used to once I actually catch him. He isn't mean, just scared. I've got enough patience to help him get adjusted. Honestly I kindda hope he keeps the attitude (just not the biting) His little attitude looks good on him
I wish I didn't need to doctor him, I feel like the constant attention is keeping him from reality settling in.

Oh there's no dodging his business end. He is insanely quick and will bite any place he can reach. If I have him in my palm with my index finger out of reach under his chin, he trys to go over it and bite my middle finger lol. He is a hand full. At least he has mostly stopped lunging at me. He mostly stands his ground or backs away now. When I first brought him home, he would charge in and bite.
