Hi! New owner here. I've had my juvenile girlie for a little over 2 weeks; she's a rescue. Yesterday, she was chilling on her cool side cuddling her plushie a lot and didn't want to eat. Y'all gave me advice on the UVB situation and I adjusted it, which, after she took a massive poo when I set her on her basking spot, she acted fairly normal the rest of the day. Ate most of her salad, ate a bunch of grasshoppers at dinner. This morning she stayed on her plushie again until I came to give her breakfast, which I'm still not used to, but can't figure out if she just likes it more than sleeping in her hammock now. I set her on her hammock (where I usually hand feed her her proteins), and she ate a decent amount, but not as much as usual. I'm still having trouble figuring out what's "enough," because when she got here she ate like a horse (she wasn't being fed on the proper juvie schedule at the last place). Anyway - the tip of her tongue is usually super pink, but this morning I noticed it's yellow. It's wet and plump - not swollen, not crusty or sad or anything, just... yellow. Rest of mouth is usual pink color. She's not dehydrated. After eating breakfast (repashy beardie buffet sprinkled with calcium/D3 dust), she promptly told me to **** off, ate a bit of her salad, and is now basking - all normal routine for her. I read that a yellow tongue could be from a number of completely normal things, but I'm hella paranoid, so am afraid I'm giving her fatty liver disease or some ****. My question is: could her tongue turn yellow as a result of a recessive gene coming out, since she is a juvenile? Or could it be the result of something good, like becoming healthy from a better diet/lighting? I'm not gonna be able to get y'all a picture of her mouth; she's still not used to being handled, so the only time I really get to see it is when she's tryna grab food from me. Like I said - yellow tip/front half of tongue, pinkish mouth and gums. Unable to get a look at the back of her throat. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
