Hi,
I noticed today and concerned me a bit and been looking around in the forum and haven't found nothing so I thought I mention it in a topic. Noticed today when dragon was basking and had mouth open the tip of his or her tongue is black could it have been damaged from basking heat or a touch of something and could that be a reason why he isn't eating like he was two months ago. Just wondering all the dragon tougues tips I seen in photographs are red or pink. If it is treatable how is it done and would of took a photo but rarely catch him or her with mouth open. Let me know thanks it concerns me...
if it is a small black "dot" like thing, thats normal some beardies have them, i know my beardie Blue does ... does it look like this?
Or is the whole tip black?
Hi,
Thanks for the photo I appreciate it you no where you see that centered black line on your photo. Pretty much surrounding it was black tipish white. About the best I can get with detail. Even your photo you can bearly notice it if he was gapsing. I notice the black on my dragons tougue easily and with the next few days being about the same as today am sure he will he mouth open for whatever reason he does it for. I tried giving the acidophiliz but wouldn't stick that tongue out for nothing to better image it. Would it be mouth rot of any kind? Or would that be different?
hmmmmmmmm .... if you CAN get a picture that would be great, i know there are people on here that have dealt with mouth rot and oral problems ....
*BUMP*
if he is not eating b/c of this tounge, i would post this in Beardie ER too ... because its a big deal and you will get more views and hopefully someone who can help you!!!!
I really hope you re-post in ER too, i want you to get some help with this.
If it were me, i would make a vet appointment ASAP and get it looked at since it hasnt always been that way, its recent, and affecting her either her abilty to eat or her appetite.
i wish the BEST of luck .....
~Em
Thanks I'll see what I can do. I need to get a better look for some reason before lights go on they get very dark even the stress marks on belly area I noticed that big time with my baby dragon and nighttime temp was 69. Something is going on with the tongue I will say that much. They hardly eat the both of them my juvie three dubias a day and greens. My baby dozen crickets and one dubia a day no greens.
