I was talking to someone today who has a beardie, his was an adult and 17inches long.. We were talking about enclosures and I said I had mojo in a glass 50gallon (31x18x24 Lxwxh). He said he has the same and is keeping his beardie in the same type? Didn't think that would be ok!? That tank is like 2 1/2 foot by 1 1/2foot by 2foot!?

actually the minimum for a beardie is 40 gallon breeder, so a 50 gallon does work for a bearded dragon.

How big is a 40gallon breeder? I thought min was 36x24x24? not 31x18x24 :| Mojo didn't have much room in the 50gallon and is only around 16inches.

I really don't know how you can keep a dragon in 31x18x24... My dragon is in a 4x2x2 (48x24x24) or 120gallons :|

40g breeder tanks are considered the absolute minimum adult sized tank by many, although IMO it is too small. Common recommendations say that an adult tank should have at least 6-8 square feet of floor space with a minimum of 18 inches in width. Following this, the smallest tank you should use with an adult is a 75g tank which is 4 ft long x 18 inches wide and just meets the 6 square feet minimum floor space. My dragon is a bit small for an adult at only 16 inches long and I can't picture her living in anything smaller than her 75g tank.

50 gallon for an adult is pretty small but if the dragon happens to be taken out on a regular basis for exercise then it should be fine. For the most part an adult will use the limited space for basking which is what our little couch potatoes love to do the most, and that's alright, just as long as are allowed their "run" time daily.

I think the 130 gallon I have for Jack is technically too small. That is why I make a point of taking them all out several times a day. Eve is in a 80 gallon and she is about 12 inches. She seems to have plenty of room. The new baby is in a 20 gallon long and once we get the cash flow I will probably buy another 80 gallon.

Merlin is an adult (we've had her almost 2 years) and in a 40 gallon. We'd like to build her a bigger one when we have some more time- had to do Evie's this spring and it's too busy at work in summer/fall to do a construction project (50+ hours a week, plus weekend work...). So for now she's in her 40 gallon room viv

This was a few months ago, she has a lizard hammock to bask in now (but still prefers her rock and cave)

But she has full run of the living room every afternoon, and almost all day on weekends when we're home

Plenty of room to run around, and she does a lot of that

Drake has been in a 40 gallon basically since she was a baby. She's like 18" I think. We are just getting done building her a new condo and each viv is 150 gallons. So she will be like  LOL

Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
