Hi i Have A 4month old beardie BARB, recently he has taken to eating more vegie and fruit then the crickets. i have noticed though that he gets the runs after eating bananas and silk worms. is this quit normal or do i need to be thinking about a dewormer, as I have cats and fish. but i deworm the cats regularly as well as our selves as part of the course. we do have BARB out now trotting about the house. He does think he is a flying squirell though!! I have alwaYS have put cabbage and large leafed vegies in the tank , no letuce , brocoli and carrots also. grapes and pears. am i over reacting ? or is this normal... little guy seems ok in himself , apart form the constant shedding. cheers Lel
That's amazing that your little guy prefers veggies over the crickets. Most of them don't take to kindly to them till much later.Although it's great that he's eating his veggies make sure he's getting plenty of crickets(at this age he really needs that protein).I'm no expert ,but I would cut back on the fruit. I have also heard that the silkworms can cause a runnier stool too.As long as he looks fine and is eating I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on his stools and see if there is any change. If there is no change and they are still runny you might want to take a sample into your vet to check for parasites.
thankyou, He likes killing the cabbage !! its quite funny. But I think I will cut back on the fruit, its kind a how we would react eating too much fruit ?... . but i will keep an eye to see if it settles... would he behave in an odd manner if he had parasites? thankyou again.
My beardie has never had parasites so I am no expert at this. I do know that if their poop is runny and smells horrible it's a good sign their could be parasites. I would think they may become lethargic. I'm sure somebody on this site, who has dealt with this problem ,will be able to give you some good advice.
