Just wondering what would be the best fixture to support this bulb. I have a 160 watt in a 10' dome fixture but it is not heating the cage enough it is way to cold and I need to upgrade to this. I need a good reliable fixture to heat this 275 watt bulb. Any reccommendations?

Thanks

You don't really need a bigger bulb.
You could use a supplementing bulb.

I have a PowerSun 100W and a 75W (not sure what kind of bulb) to get the temps up right.
Just have the little bulb right next to the MVB.

Yeah I know that would be easier, but my cage is custom made and there isn't a hole made for another heat source which I hope will get done soon, and I was just wondering what fixture would support such a hot bulb.

Ah ok.

Maybe try attaching a heavy duty light fixture to the top? I've seen a lot of people use MVB's without the domes.
Something along these lines:

Here's a dome I found if you want to take that route:

I'm not sure how it would hold up to continuous lighting/heat though.

*thumbs up*

tyler619...I was just wondering what size your viv is. Curious..because I am in the process of making a new large enclosure for my dragon and also got a 160 w mvb. I know I'm probably going to need additional heat, but until I have it done won't know how much extra heat.

If you search my previous posts on my profile you will come across Spike's cage in it's own topic. Do they make reptile fixtures for these 275 watt bulbs?

We have this fixture in Oscar's viv. You can't use it for a MVB. It gets too hot and the wattage only holds up to 150 watts per bulb.

Oh I know, I doubted it held up to the amount he was using. Just something "along those lines" lol
The most I've seen from a reptile supplyer is the Brooder lamp 250W.

Just wanted to give the info, LOL. Until my dh rewires Oscar's viv, I can't use a MVb in there. I do want to get a mvb for Calypso's viv so need the info given in these posts too. ;)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
