Superworms have been my bearded dragons staple food for a few months now. I usually give him on average 5-10 every other day.
In the past Gus has had no problems eating greens but now he just seems to never touch them anymore. When he doesn't eat his greens I try to cut back on supers as much as possible but I'm worried he'll literally starve himself.
I lose the willpower game because of paranoia. So I guess I have a few questions here.
First off, how many superworms is okay at this age?
Second off, I usually chop up collard greens, mustard greens, and acorn squash in a cuisinart and use that as the salad. However I don't know if it's a problem, but if a salad is chopped too small could that be a reason he's not eating it?
And lastly. Starting a Roach colony and using crickets are not an option. (Don't have space for colony, and Gus won't touch crickets) So if I need to switch my staple insect... What are my options?
You can feed phoenix worms as a staple. I feed mine superworms as staple and I personally feed him no more than 5 a day. Also I feed a bowl full of endive and escarole daily (I don't have access to collard or mustards).
