146 Gallon viv for Primo. Hi, next week I start production on a 48inches long X 27 inches wide X 24inches tall cage for my beardie. I'm thinking about plexiglas. Umm. Is there any kind of wood I need to use and not use? Do I need to seal that wood? If I paint it is that a sealant? What should I use for the ground ( I know not to use sand ), How big of a fluorecent UV bulb will I need to use for this tank (48X27X24). And do you think I will need more than 1 basking spot light?

about the wood there is alot of wood that you can use but i cant name all ill look up earlier post that tell you usable woods and not usable woods. Yes you do have to seal the wood unless you are using melamine which is a wood that is laminated, but you should buy a water based sealer and apply about 2-3 coats and you will be good. No paint is not sealent, but if you paint it paint the wood first then apply the wood sealer. i would recommend that you use tile for the ground either ceramic or slate tile would be good. if the tank that you are building is going to be 48in long i would say either a 36in or 48in would be ok. I dont think that you would need another basking side aslong as your dragon has a hot side and a cool side.let me know if you have any other questions

Umm... What about vents? I was thinking about atleast 1 vent, maybe one on the back so there is fresh air but I don't know if that is a good idea, I'm using 3 sides of glass ( front and both sides ) and I'm doing the back made of wood because the back doesn't really matter to me very much and it would be cheaper than building 4 sides of glass. Ummm... Are tiles inexpensive? If not, what are the cheaper of the 2 you suggested?

for the vents i would put 2 in the back for ventilation but i think 1 will work.what type of heat bulb will you be using? tile is pretty cheap not expensive at all if you buy at lowes or homedepot they even cut it for you. i would go with ceramic tile its probably about 1 dollar fifty for 12x12 piece so its prettu cheap. im in the process of finishing my enclosures its one whole piece but its divided in 3 units its pretty nice. ill post some pics tomorrow so you can see what im tlaking about.

Crossfire vivs use 3 or 4 round ones in the back. There are several threads on how to build them. I think someone put the instructions on the DIY forum and it is shorter than enclosures to search. Or just google Crossfire at the top of the page, my duh!

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
