Ok. This guy at Petsmart yesterday said NOT to use the calcium with vitamin D because my little guy has the uvb bar. Also, do you think I should place the uvb light right next to the basking light? So that when he's basking he is also directly under the uvb? Or where I have it in the middle is good? In the middle towards the back is where I have it now. Sorry for all the questions. Just want to get it right. I switched to 100w basking bulb. His high spot is now 100° F. Still not hot enough I know. So should I make his basking spot higher? It's already 12 inches under. Can it be closer? Or should I add a ceramic heater or something? Thanks again in advance.
Do not listen to the pet store people- your dragon is a baby and needs the supplements please give the baby the calcium D 3 - your uvb is going to help him absorb/ synthesize the calcium your feeding- he needs the calcium now as he is growing and w/ the correct uvb and correct placement and distance it's going to ward off mbd and other illnesses - the uvb is in the tank? Getting it next to the basking bulb would be ideal- if you can't he's going to go to the light he needs --your basking bulb should not be any closer than 6"-- if you can raise the basking decor to get the temp to 105-110 that would be good if not get a higher wattage bulb but make sure your using a digital probe thermometer- no questions are too dumb- if you need help then please ask but those people at the pet store do not have a clue about raising a dragon-

Yes uvb is in tank. I have both calciums. One with d3, one without. The one with d3 is strawberry banana flavor. Thoughts on that?

As long as he eats it thats fine-- the w/ out D3 will be used when he turns one yr old- then it will go to different times your giving the D3 and w / out D3 -- your distance for your UVB is 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor ?

I ended up buying a 150watt bulb. I already had the deep dome. Finally, his highest basking spot is 109. The only thing I'm worried about, is it safe to have the uvb tube hood fixture so close to the basking dome? Here is a pic.

It looks good --- as long as its not melting your good -- and your basking spot is good for temp- if hes got a gradient heat w/ in the 105-110 he will bask where he likes it --

Ok. I'm getting frustrated. After a couple hours the high basking spot became 125F! I don't know what to do. The only thing I can think of is to buy a fresh 100watt bulb. The one I was using was about 4 months old. And if it still doesn't get high enough, then somehow raise his basking spot. It's just that he's not eating as much as I would like. We've had him for about 6 days. Yesterday he had a cricket here and there. Pretty decent size ones. And he chased them. Today no bugs but he had some greens for the first time. The other day he had like 4 dubies. And later 2 crickets. He's just not going into a feeding frenzy. I feel like he's still stressed. And I just can't get the temp right. 😫

Yes I'm getting the surface of the top basking wood where he sits, and I use a thermometer gun. I switched it back to the 100watt for now. I may need to buy more wood to pile on top so he can go higher.

Thermometer guns have been known to be off - please get the digital probe thermometers

Yeah just use the 100 watt bulb, as long as the temp. gets to 100 at the basking spot you can use a towel to cover part of the screen to keep it just a little bit warmer without using a higher watt bulb. Have you tried dripping water on his snout for a drink ? You want to be sure he's hydrated. All the babies I raised ate greens but also drank when I sprayed them.

What age is he?
That's hot enough if he's spending most of his time basking.
EDIT:
Ok one month, well, try and get it to 102-103. You should be fine

Yes I have been keeping him hydrated. I've had him about a week. And his appetite is still wonky. He's just eating a little here and a little there. Otherwise, he seems good. He seems spunky. He's pooping good. My husband says to.just leave him alone for a few days. To put his dusted food in the tank, but then let him be.

You want to hand tame him- get your hands in the tank as much as you can- feeding by hand bsfl is good - he needs to learn trust and be patient w/ him- as long as he's eating a little basking pooping your good- his appetite will increase as he gets more acclimated to the tank and surroundings
