    The REAL Cost Of Beardies!!!!

We spent about 1000 dollars at the pet store for Ferdinand, cage, lights, accessories, food, etc. Since then, I've probably spent another 500 upgrading his lighting, getting larger cave decorations, vitamins and other random stuff. We were probably spending 70 a month on his VORACIOUS appetite...

I am second guessing all of my lighting

I FOUND AN ARCADIA 12% T5 BULB! The bulb and fixture have been ordered so as soon as they arrive, I'm going to swap the lighting around. I have a couple of questions, though - it's a dual bulb fixture, so should I put anything in the second part? Right now, I've got a UVB light in one and a...

When to worm/do a general health checkup?

About a month ago, Ferdinand abruptly stopped eating for 3 days and seemed noticeably lethargic/wilted. We eventually concluded it was a combination of being in the middle of a shed, a cold snap that caused the temp to go down to 65f at night instead of the usual 69, and switching from pinhead...

I am second guessing all of my lighting

Not sure what it translates to in gallons, but Ferdinand's viv is 115cm x 49cm x 43cm. When we bought him, they told us that they recommended using a MVB for both basking and UBA output, rather than using separate bulbs for each, so we bought a Komodo Solar D3 UV basking bulb and stuck that at...

    Tiny black dot?

Oh thank GOD. I have been googling all sorts of fungal infections for the last hour. I've just learned about yellow fungus, so my husband is going to have to put up with me waving Ferdinand around and going, "DOES HE LOOK YELLOW TO YOU?" for the next... oh, forever. Husband is quite smug right...

    Tiny black dot?

I noticed this morning that Ferdinand had a tiny black dot in the center of his head which I'm positive wasn't always there, but up until last week, he was in the process of shedding so his head was an opaque whitish color. It's very tiny, about the size of a pinprick, and seems to be UNDER the...

    Is my dragon, um, dented?

Ferdinand says his sweater is itchy and too small. Thank you! I will be SO HAPPY when he's bigger and less... kill-able looking. It's like having a newborn baby again.

    Is my dragon, um, dented?

Ferdinand has a distinct... dip? in his left side. The right side of his body makes a pretty smooth half circle, but the left side is a bit more uneven. Is this normal? His appetite is voracious and he seems pretty active, no signs of discomfort except for maybe a bit annoyed about his...

    Slightly confused about vitamin dosing

Thanks so much! I'll pick up some plain calcium powder tomorrow.

    Slightly confused about vitamin dosing

I was told Ferdinand was about 4 months old when I bought him. No idea how accurate that is, but he's about 8 inches in length and 35grams last I weighed him. He gets about 20% veggies (rocket daily, mixed with kale, endive, blueberries, pears, etc for variety) and 80% dusted crickets, although...

    Translating to danish

If it helps, løvetann is Norwegian for dandelion. I know the two languages are very similar. I've had a lot of luck finding the Norwegian word for plants by finding the Latin name and then googling that, which usually takes me to the Norwegian wikipedia which will give me the common name.

    Yet another lighting question

Proud new mommy of a 4 month old baby beardie, and utterly terrified that I'm going to kill him. Quick specs: wooden terrarium, 115cm by 60cm by 45cm, newspaper substrate until I can get tiles, cool end of the tank around 80-85f, basking spot 107f at the highest point, nighttime temps around...
