Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Found out today Sasha had lymphoma. The reason the vet had never previously mentioned lymphoma is because they were two different vets. The one who was with us the day Sasha passed was a very caring and compassionate woman who told me that she didn't believe it was mbd but that it was lymphoma...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

He wasn't on a bunch of medications. He hadn't had metacam in a few weeks and they stopped the calcium once his blood work came back. All they were doing was trying to hydrate and feed him. I however had a lot of guilt over the tube feeding because I know that stressing them out makes them...

Sorry she didn't think it was mbd. Typing while crying with burry eyes makes errors.

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Today when I called to find out a good time to visit Sasha the covering vet came onto the phone to tell me that Sasha was doing very poorly. She said he had vomited all of his tube feeds up from yesterday this morning and she did an ultrasound to see if she could see what was going on and his...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

He was severely dehydrated though...I should have forced more water on him (I feel really bad about that) his left eye wouldn't open and was super sunken in, the vet did a saline rinse and while he wouldn't open it still it wasn't sunken in anymore. Vet said it was dehydration. When I called...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

The vet didn't give me a copy. I could ask.. If I did ask he would probably take it as an insult though. When I asked if the metacam could have caused the kidney issues (when he thought he had a kidney issue) he seemed to be a bit offended. I left him on Wednesday and called Thursday morning...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

So I misunderstood the vet today. When he said seizing he meant the tremors. Sasha isn't have seizures (thank God) but his calcium is high, they will be stopping the injections and instead are focusing on feeding and hydrating him. As far as I know there is no change since I left him there...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Ok, I'm officially REALLY confused. The vet called back (unfortunately I missed the call) to say that he talked to a specialist at the lab and they said that for a dessert animal like a bearded dragon his kidney level was fine. So the vet once again is going to just keep treating for calcium...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Blood work came back. It's everything I was afraid it would be. His calcium is actually a bit high (because we've been treating for mbd and he doesn't have it) Somewhere between last night and this morning Sasha has started having seizures. His blood work shows that it's the kidneys (most...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Well, the vet finally got on board with Sasha being extremely ill (before he seemed to think I was being over dramatic because I was upset) good vet, just not very good with people..... I left Sasha with him, he'll be getting bloodwork. Then it'll be daily calcium and vitamin D injections...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

And sorry yes, his major decline in health started after only about 2 and a half weeks on metacam, that's why I didn't necessarily realize that could be it. It seems to close together for it to have done enough damage that symptoms would start that soon isn't it?

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

He isn't drinking water at all, it's a challenge getting his. 5 of calcium in him every day, his beard has been black since Friday. It fades to lighter black sometimes but it doesn't go away and he never black beards normally. He didn't even get a black beard when they gave him the calcium...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Also, i was mind of wondering if all this is because he was on metacam. 25 for over a month, I can't help but think the metacam caused him to get sick like this because before I started giving it he was barely wobbly and since I've given it he's gotten full body tremors that are now full body...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

So, treatment isn't going very well. On Friday his whole body started to do massive twitching/spasming(?) I've been treating him for mbd for 8 days and 5 days after I started the horrible spasms started, his beard has also been black since that day. If it's mbd shouldn't his symptoms just stay...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Well. Today I took Sasha to the vet to put him to sleep, some weird part of me was still super in denial. He pooped this morning and I kept and brought it just in case. All good things though, the vet isn't ready to give up! Because Sasha is super weak and he tremors the vet wants to try...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

Of course after finally making my choice I got home this morning and Sasha is super alert, was actually happy to be out of his tank and was climbing on me (granted his version of climbing is really sad and shaky) . He's currently chilling in his tank actually looking around at stuff and being...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

His UV bulb is just over a month old. It's a ReptiSun 10 and I change it every 6 months. For the blood work, I'm pretty undecided if I'm going to do it. I can't figure if the stress and trauma it will cause him will be worth it in the end. He improved a bit with the metacam which means what's...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

The back legs are definitely the worst. As for the fusion....I don't always believe everything I'm told just because a 'doctor' said it...so I showed to x-ray to a few different doctors that I work with (although they obviously work on people an x-ray is an x-ray). When I showed them the x-ray...

Broken back with fused vertebrae and nerve damage

This first one is from when he was 8 months old. I brought him in for a bowel obstruction. The vet didn't comment on his spine at the time. This one is from his x-ray in December. It's very clearly gotten worse.
