    A couple enclosure pics

I had started off with just one beardie-Sahara (female) but then at the local Repticon fell for Black Beard (adult male) so my Atasuki terrarium (55x23x25 inches) roughly is his new home and I'm waiting on the second one to come in (4x4x2 feet) for Sahara to move to from her 40B. Both just...

Ah I love Photobucket's new policy. SO it's been a few months-new house put the new enclosure on hold but Sahara is alive and well and learning to eat dubias. I picked up a front open terrarium vs. building a cross fire and was in the midst of picking up some driftwood/more dubias and...

That moment when your cricket enclosure gets knocked over

Yes I will definitely be doing medium and up next time... She's 18" so large are fine but I like medium better-gives her more of a challenge. :) And cats are no good-they play with them and don't kill them too often.

That moment when your cricket enclosure gets knocked over

Oh I've been finding more today. Maybe 5-10 total. I've just started smashing them vs catching and feeding just bc they may have gotten in the litter box in an offshoot room. I did keep imagining them crawling on me most of the night lol. My wife found two today downstairs. Fortunately...

That moment when your cricket enclosure gets knocked over

Needless to say the kitten found her way in the dark to it (29qt container from lowes with air vents). The tiny crickets and occasional larger one got out. Bonus room is my office/vicarious/reef tank so I collected 50 or so and only a couple have made it downstairs. Cats have been having...

    Crossfire lighting options

Thanks for clarifying. I was thinking about a diagonal bulb layout for shade/options but the layout/options will change it all. FWIW now I never see her hiding but I just have a power compact 10.0UVB (more I read the more I wanted the new setup). Her current tank has a hiding spot though I...

    UVB and lighting article

Awesome article. Coming from reefkeeping there are many articles similar on lighting etc. I didn't think about the metal halide based lamps. I used to run them over my aquariums but have went LED now. The lack of control (aka dimmable) could be an issue but still a great option and a...

    Crossfire lighting options

See any issues going 36" UVB? Looking at Amazon for the nanoblasters the 36" is cheaper and in stock for prime so I could have it this weekend along with the bulb. Have you see the Carolina Custom Cages fixtures? I only ask b/c I'm just over the border from Charlotte where they are located...

    Crossfire lighting options

Thanks! The 12"is it from the mount or from the bottom of the bulb? Assuming the latter but wanted to make sure.

    Crossfire lighting options

Putting together my list for the enclosure upgrade from the current 40B and am curious on two things around lighting: Should I stick with a shorter reptisun 10.0 T5HO bulb say 2' over a long one for the tank to allow some gradient? And are the quality differences in the bulb lengths from...

New Owner from Charlotte, NC with Sahara

Thanks everyone. I had my first out of town trip and she did great with my MIL feeding her. She loves escarole with cilantro mixed in and a few carrot slices. Looking into online feeding options now vs. meal worms and gut loaded crickets. My kitten/other cats/dogs just watch her thru the...
