    Non-nutritional benefit of crickets

Roller Coaster, our bearded dragon is now approximately 3 months old and we have been feeding him reptiworms since we got him (along with greens of course). We ran out of reptiworms before the next delivery arrived, so picked up some crickets from the pet store to tide him over, and let me say...

New Bearded Dragon has a name and pictures

Thanks for the suggestion. We bathed Roller Coaster in a small tupperware container in his tank with limited success. He is a jumper, and the tupperware isn't all enough, so he sat in the water for about 1 minute, then leaped over the edge and made his escape. We are going to try again tonight...

New Bearded Dragon has a name and pictures

We are getting closer to being able to give him a bath. He will now let us hold him in the tank for about a minute before jumping off. Once he is a bit calmer in hand in the tank we will try a transfer to some water.

New Bearded Dragon has a name and pictures

We are feeding him reptiworms as his main feeder, and are going to add in crickets to vary his diet. We live in Canada so no roaches for us.

New Bearded Dragon has a name and pictures

Thanks for the feedback! My wife calls him RC, which made my son very upset, until we explained to him that RC were the initials for Roller Coaster. I would not be concerned about water and hydration except he is not currently eating his greens (or the water I put on them), eating only a few...

New Bearded Dragon has a name and pictures

Hello everyone, My son finally decided on a name for our new bearded dragon: Roller Coaster As you can guess he loves roller coasters, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, K'nex Roller Coasters, marble run roller coasters, designs on our table cloth look like roller coasters...you get the picture :)...

    Not eating around mom

We are on day 5 of owning our new dragon. He will eat one or two reptiworms out of my son's or my hand and that is it. However, if we leave the room and come back later at least half of the reptiworms in the bowl are gone. So, at the moment he won't eat with anyone in the room.

    Climbing bracnhes

I am new to this, but the book I have, and info I found on this site suggest that for outside branches: 1. Wash with a bleach solution by either immersing the branch in the water or spraying it down, then rinse until no bleach smell (10% bleach solution) and let it dry. 2. After bleaching bake...

Do you "trust" your bearded dragon to thermal regulate?

I have our new dragon's enclosure set up following all of the advice on this site, but have a question as our new dragon (still waiting on my son to pick a final name) isn't following the rules :) I have his basking spot on the reptile hammock set up, after much experimenting to range between...

    Finally new bearded dragon owners

Day 2 proved just as interesting as day 1 but in an entirely different way. We were worried about hydration this morning, so I took a piece of endive with water in it and touched it to his nose, transferring a drop of water to his nose. This worked, and each time he shook his head, but also...

    Prickly Pears and Endive?

How to buy feeders during cold weather

Have you tried bleaching then rinsing your cricket habitat really well in case something in the enclosure is killing them?

    Finally new bearded dragon owners

Well "No Name" (my son says he needs the dragon to be around for awhile before he can pick the final name) has been with us for last night and all day today. Last night he was quite active (I didn't realize Beardies can jump) moving from rock to branch to hammock and back. We managed to get him...

hydration during the first three days

Hello! We picked up our dragon yesterday and I know it is suggested not to handle them for the first three days or so, but if we don't bath him in those three days I am wondering what we should do to keep him hydrated? He is not eating veggies yet, so not getting water that way. Not positive...

    Finally new bearded dragon owners

We were supposed to get our dragon almost 4 weeks ago, but they came in small and we had to wait. I stopped in at the pet store today to check in on them, and they said they were ready to go home. So, a stressful (and too fast) drive home with the heat cranked in the car, my son's (and let's be...

How do you count new reptiworms in a shipment?

I am glad you are saying that most shipments are squirmy enough that you don't bother counting. This gives me hope.

How do you count new reptiworms in a shipment?

Agreed I wouldn't either, but death rate was huge. I ended up sifting through a batch and had 75 living out of 500 in the container. Luckily the replacements will be ready next week.

How do you count new reptiworms in a shipment?

I just received a shipment of reptiworms and there are a bunch of dead ones. For refund purposes I need to figure out how many are alive and how many dead. So, I am looking for some suggestions on how some of you with worm experience do this and get your live/dead count? Thanks !

    Almost new Bearded Dragon Owners

There is no calcium problem, we don't have the dragon yet, it is still growing at the pet store. We got an update that it will probably be another 2 weeks. My calcium question just arose because info on this site and in the book I have says dust crickets once per day. Then other posts here say...
