Bring Bearded Dragons to your D&D Game!

Hi fellow beardie lovers! Its been a while since I've been around these parts, life has taken some twists and turns these last few years! (The forum looks great by the way!) One of those twists is getting into modeling and producing my own miniatures for Dungeons and Dragons (or other games, or...

    Body Condition

Helen Cairo does some great work making educational materials from real specimens. She does illustrative dissections to teach about pathologies, and often works on alot of reptiles. A great resource for learning some of their unique physiology. This post in particular seemed like it might be...

Effects of MBD on the skeleton *Photos*

Warning : while the photos in the link are not explicitly graphic they are of an actual euthanized animal. The process used is called diaphonization and uses chemicals to turn the soft tissues clear and dye the bones. I see the term ‘slight MBD’ or calcium deficiency from time to time...

Photobucket no longer supports 3rd party links

As of last summer photobucket changed their policy on linking to hosted photos. Direct links/embeds no longer work and many images on this and other forums now just display a error image. I think photobucket has been out of favor recently but some of the older posts and stickies have broken...

What the petstore told me was wrong?

Most of us in this forum started out in a much different place and with way different expectations of what having a bearded dragon (or two or three..) really means. I am trying to dust off and work in some of my care and education materials, what would YOU want to see on a care sheet or on the...

Are routine checkups or expensive tests necessary?

We all know vet visits can be expensive, even more so when they have to run tests or take x-rays. It’s an unfortunate aspect of pet ownership that is some times tempting to try to avoid. An interesting case summary came across my feed the other day that is a pretty good example of why BOTH are a...

    Embed video and user tagging?

First is there a way (or can it be added) to embed YouTube videos like we can win photos and gifs? Second is it possible to do user tagging like other social media platforms? Basically @username or something and it would send a notice or PM to look at the post.

Pepper, What a mess you've made!

I thought Pepper has been eating more of his salad than normal... turns out he is eating some of it and throwing most of it about his enclosure. His cleaner crew are doing a good job of cleaning up after him, so good that I thought he's been eating it all! How sneaky. Time to try more tricks...

    Hide and Seek

Pepper had the sunroom all day Sunday and I forgot to get him before sundown. After an unusually long game of "find the lizard" turns out he'd tucked himself in for the night in his tree rather than behind/under something on the floor. Maybe I'll add some more lizard friendly furniture and...

    Arcadia 14% - First Impressions

This will be my first Arcadia lamp and since it was after lights out I don't have much to say tonight but I'm pretty excited so I'll give some initial impression. Light Your Reptiles has their game on when it comes to packing. The lamp was wrapped up solid and safe. Very pleased with the...

See Pepper? This is why you can't have nice things....

I've been trying to find plants that will grow in Peppers cage and put up with his abuse. Snakeplant/mother-in-laws tongue is the most durable candidate so far, but not UVB holds up to a feisty lizard and he need to trample.

    Reptisun T5 hood w/ 5.0 bulb -- UVI measurements

I recently had a chance to get some rough measurements from a 36" Reptisun hood kit. The hood comes with a 5.0 bulb installed and I've seen a few questions about if this is OK or should be upgraded. If possible upgrading to a 10.0 bulb is ideal as the lamp can be mounted further away, but for...

    Trying out Preprepaired Salads

I can't say yet if this is effective or not but this thread is to document a little experiment I'm doing with my salads. There have been quite a few questions about freezing salads and stuff so I'm giving something a try... I've read a bit about parrot keepers who make "chop" or "mash" for...
