Any form of safe, loose substrate?

I've never heard of Sani-Chips before... I've been looking to see if there was any kind of substrate I could use (I'm currently using tile, but Ozzy doesn't seem to like it - he hardly moves at all, choosing to sit under the basking light all day unless you take him out). I was wondering how big...

    DIY Tile Options?

So for a while I've been considering switching my beardie enclosure from repticarpet flooring to some sort of tiling, for easier cleaning and nail filing purposes. The usual. But I'm concerned that a slate or concrete tile will absorb smells that may not wash out easily? Has anyone had this...

    Temporary Food Substitute Advice?

Connecticut just got slammed by over a foot of snow, making a normally 10-minute drive into a 45 minute death trap. Unfortunately, we are out of crickets, and there is no way we can make it to the pet supply store. Is there any substitute for live food that I could get at a grocery store until I...

    Massive digestive issue/mood change

Ozzy's been fine for a while, nothing wrong, and suddenly one day after feeding him phoenix worms (which is not new, he'd been eating them for a few months) he started pooping out undigested one, and even one that was still alive  i didn't know what to do, because he'd never had a...

    Shutting his eyes

Mine does this a lot too! But he has always been fine with his lighting, so I think it's just a beardie quirk  My little one blinks, just one eye at a time

    Considering tile?

I currently have reptile carpet down in my little one's viv, which is working out just fine! But I've been reading lots of posts and seeing pictures where people have tile and I thought it'd be a lot less hassle! I'd only have to take out a single tile at a time to clean as needed instead of the...

    Spyro the Dragon

LOL when mine was just a 5 inch little one, he'd spend all of his time climbing around in his tree decoration xD he loved it, it was adorable  of course, he got too big for it to hold him anymore, so I had to take it out

Building a big stackable 7x2x2 enclosure

I think I will! I saw a picture of a styrofoam structure someone made which was like a castle and I became a little obsessed with the idea  hopefully soon Ozzy will be living like a prince! :D and congrats on the beardies! They look super happy! :blob5:

Building a big stackable 7x2x2 enclosure

Wow.... just wow! I wish I could do something like this! Maybe in the future  And I know you said you don't like how you can see the separate layers of styrofoam in the finished product, but I actually think it makes it look more rock-like! Because rocks *do* have layers, don't they? :)...

    Stress marks :(

I'm not really sure what's happening.. little Ozzy has been fine, but the last time I cleaned his cage I rearranged some things so that he could get around the tank more easily - and after this he started moving around a lot more! But now, he'll lay on his basking rock for a little while and...

    baby BD bathing

I know some people who bath their beardies daily. Personally, I'm often far too busy to do this, but I do whenever I get a chance or when his viv starts getting dirty, I'll give him a bath when I clean the viv (:

    One Question

Putting him in his viv would be a good idea (: haha just figure out a feeding schedule that works for you, if you're getting your beardie from a store (as opposed to online) you could always ask them when they feed their reptiles so that you aren't trying to feed an already-full beardie (:

    Corn?

I read that corn was ok to feed a beardie, though obviously not a staple veggie, but after feeding him some yesterday for the first time (which he seemed to really like), he didn't really digest them, which i noticed as the full kernels came right back out today.. has anyone else had this problem?

    Beardie... squeaking?

LOL no one else will ever understand a lizard-owner's poop obsession!

    Beardie... squeaking?

Thanks guys! (: I didn't think it was too serious, because he seemed to be breathing fine, but your responses definitely made me feel better! He seems to be doing fine now, I'm still feeding him twice a day, but ill only put 10 worms or crickets in at once, wait until he eats them, and then put...

    Beardie... squeaking?

After running short on food for a while, we decided to start buying crickets from a different supplier who we knew had slightly larger crickets. After feeding him these (some were too big, but I made sure to pick out the big ones so he was eating ones pretty perfect for his 8.5 inch size) he...

New 40 gal tank, tips for keeping the temp up?

yes, that's what I've been doing with the thermometer. and i know it's a little much, but since it's on a dimmer, I'm not going to bother getting a lower wattage bulb. And ok, great, I'll just plug in a 40W on the cool end :) but as the basking spot is 6 inches away from the light and the cage...

New 40 gal tank, tips for keeping the temp up?

no for some reason they won't load for me either haha, I think I must have just done something wrong! but oh well  but ok, I will definately try using a lower wattage bulb for the cool side (: thanks a ton! but hm that's not quite what I meant by burning, I was mostly wondering if it's...
