He's adapting, hang in there, he should come around!

    Is this normal?

Everything sounds right, it must be shedding irritability and possibly his natural fear of water. It should be up to the arm pits, he should be touching/walking on the bottom, not floating. It's hard, but hold off until he's more friendly during the shedding They'll get lazy, let him catch...

    Juv. Beardie Temperature gradient Help?

Another thing, secure or only use that digital probe/bulb when needed! It takes about 10 or 15 minutes to get the temperature, take it out or secure it! After having my beardie for two years...he bit off the temperature bulb and ate it!

    Juv. Beardie Temperature gradient Help?

First suggestion, remove the water! Give it to him when he eats, as soon as he's done with it, take it out...humidity might be the issue. Temps seem right, if it's too hot, they'll move or become nervous, move around trying to find a cool area Whats that machine in the left corner?

    Is this normal?

I don't know about Seminal plug so I can't comment. Beardies do change fast, mine didn't like water! Now, he tolerates it! Bathing, he's going to need it whether he likes t or not! Have some interaction time before putting him water....when he's in there, put your hand in there to give him...

HELP My beardie ate the bulb off the temp probe!

I noticed this morning Angel probably ate the bulb off the temp probe! I can't find it so I guess he swallowed it. Think he'll pass it? He's about 2 years old He never paid attention to it! It was about 1/4" diameter and about 1/2" long

Getting a little worried about his color

At first I wrote it off as mild brumation, lack of appetite, not sleeping a lot, just lounging on his rock all day, only got off the rock to poop. He's 9 months old next month, VERY chubby, big chubby cheeks, about 15+" One day he'd dive off his rock to get a roach, or dive into the salad bowl...

    Start a dubia colony?

I do similar as to what Soul does. This came up the other day, it might help, I got most of the idea after searching You Tube, then modified it to suit me. viewtopic.php?f=76&t=183937 Lots of videos on You Tube, they all harvest/clean almost the same way.

    Outdoor enclosure/play area?

Now I understand. A roll of metal fence 1/2 x1/2 or 1x1 for the a cylinder would work. The hard part would be attaching it to the plastic pool. For the roof, you could use aviary screen, or bird screen. It's a cloth mesh, just need to rig up some supports to keep it from sagging. Just make sure...

    Dubia shedding and feeding questions

Thanks, I feel better now that I know it is molts and not a die off. Yes, it was a good deal. I took a quick peek and noticed a few males with chewed up wings! I'll need to spend some time counting! Thanks

    Dubia shedding and feeding questions

First, I would feed him Dubia roaches, they're more nutritious and more filling... 3 crickets equal 1 roach. Someone asked the same question. Read this: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=183996

setting up my first dubia colony

You're going to need a lot more than 5 adults. 5 females would produce around 30 nympths a month...5x30= 150 Check out Dubia Deli for a colony. Or check out the For Sale section here.

    Cleaning fake rock and viv

Most people use a 50/50 of water and vinegar...I use less vinegar. I wouldn't use any bleach or ammonia...it's not safe for humans! You'll probably have to scrub the rocks then do a complete wipe down of any splashing. Of course, you have take the little guy out first, and let it air out, with...

    Start a dubia colony?

I made the decision to keep a colony. Mine was 6 months old when I decided. I figured he's going to eat like this for another 6 months, then taper off, but still need roaches. I asked myself: Do I want to keep ordering shipments every week or two? I had an order delayed a day and 1/3 died...

    Outdoor enclosure/play area?

If you mean the type of pool that the sides is a roll of metal, that would work, some garden stakes hammered in the ground. Just make sure it's flat on the ground! They can use their nose, flatten their body and squirm under. I would steer clear of wire or screen for walls, they'll get their...

    Outdoor enclosure/play area?

Great idea! I read someone turned their sun room into a beardie play ground. Something to consider: I live in the country (I'm also in NC) so birds of prey are everywhere! Also, red fire ants would attack him, not to mention snakes! As for an enclosure, mine can climb just about anything! A...

    Best substrate?

I had repti-carpet covering the whole tank, it was messy, it seemed to absorb and smell, I then found a large piece of tile to fit half the tank....sealed the edges with felt strips. He always seemed to poop on the furthest side of the tank, away from his basking rock. It worked out perfectly...
