Does Anyone Else Have an OLD Chronic Egg-Layer?

Thanks! Late reply, sorry! I stopped checking. She definitely gets all the calcium to help her out and has her Reptisun tube UVB. She also gets all the tasty bugs treats! She gets more bug treats (like hornworms and dubias) than our others to help bring her back up after her egg cycles. She is...

Does Anyone Else Have an OLD Chronic Egg-Layer?

I've had Riza since 2011, we believe she has to be about 12 years old. Shortly after I got her, she began laying clutches multiple times a year and it's been nonstop. I was just curious if anyone else has an old chronic egg layer and how do you treat them and care for them? She's my first and...

    Periodic Gasping (possible URI?l

So, I ended up taking Piper to the vet a month ago and the vet couldn't determine that anything was wrong. She did set up a medication we could do if I felt she needed it. I decided it wasn't necessary and followed her other suggestion to improve my husbandry. Piper's UVB is now mounted inside...

    Periodic Gasping (possible URI?l

Thank you for the input! I've been making sure to dust her salads every time when I feel she's getting ready (sorry for putting the wrong info in at first!). She's got the tube Reptisun T8. It is on her lid right now. We're in the process of trying to get the lights mounted inside the tank.

    Periodic Gasping (possible URI?l

Oh wow! That sounds like a scary diagnosis! I'm glad to hear she's doing better! My partner cleaned Piper's home (and Piper) today and I pulled her out to sit with me. So far, she's not been making those noises since we sat down to relax for the night. She's cuddled on the couch with me. I am...

    Periodic Gasping (possible URI?l

Thanks for the input, Cooper!! I checked her mouth the other night to check for a fungal infection and everything looked normal. The roof of her mouth looks extra yellow, but I saw this is normal -- and I don't make it a habit of looking in their mouths so I had no idea hers was so yellow.

She's also only had shallow baths, but I suppose she could have inhaled some water while she was drinking -- though she's never given any indication she did (and I am aware how well they hide their sicknesses until it's too late. Hence why I'm seeking some advice before shelling out the big bucks).

    Periodic Gasping (possible URI?l

Hey all! So... Piper-George, my four year old female, is displaying a peculiar "symptom" I can't seem to find an answer to. So, before I drop another $70 for a checkup and antibiotics I wanted to get everyone's opinion. She is "gasping", making this large rasping inhale periodically at night...

Prolonged Black Beard on 9 yr Female?

I think she's just getting extra grumpy in her old age. Her beard was nice and normal yesterday when I fed her bugs. After the bugs, she turned it pitch black as if complaining because I cut her off. ^^ I think she's just taking to extreme tantrum throwing...

    Sleepwalking? Hypnotic? In a trance?

I had to come and add my story in! My newest girl, Piper, did something like that awhile back. It actually happened a couple times and worried me as I'd never seen anything like it! One night, I think she actually shat herself while she was sleeping and freaked herself out. She started running...

Prolonged Black Beard on 9 yr Female?

Thanks for your input! =) I know it might be risky, but I'm still waiting and watching her to see if this beard is indictive of a problem or if she's just a grumpy old lady. Maybe she's just as sick and tired of the clutter in my room as I am. XD

Prolonged Black Beard on 9 yr Female?

She's eating normal, I always make sure to give her baths and water after her egg laying. Riza didn't change rooms, I moved Piper out so Riza could remain queen of my room. She just pooped last night during her bath. Normally if she has left over eggs she poops 'em out. But I don't think she...

Prolonged Black Beard on 9 yr Female?

She also recently had a clutch of infertile eggs (she had them just after Christmas). I don't know if that has anything to do with this beard, but I forgot to add that in the above post.

Prolonged Black Beard on 9 yr Female?

Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've had to post anything. For at least the past two weeks Riza's had a never-ending black beard. Nothing has changed in her setup since I've had her. Setup details anyway: ~40 gal. breeder ~tile substrate ~a cave to bask on and hide in ~artificial branch to...

Black Scales on back? *pics included*

She's doing good, as far as I can tell. I've been away from the house most of the past few days with my work schedule, but she seems normal and as she's always been. We did have bath time today and finally cleaned up the cage from her egg laying. She wasn't too thrilled about being put in the...

Black Scales on back? *pics included*

Surprise of all surprises, Riza actually ate all her salad today while I was gone at work. She's laid a total of around twenty eggs this time around, which is pretty normal. Normally she has anywhere from 20-22. The swelling's gone down on her vent, so I think she's done. I do have to poop...
