    Lost Beardie Outside

I am so glad you found him!!! Please don't put his glass tank outside in the sun though. Even with the screen top, it can get very very hot in there (like a car). I have a harness for my guy, and it is great. You could also build an enclosure out of chicken wire or something similar to keep him...

    Is he Dehydrated??

That sounds like a mild impaction. They tend to lose their appetite when that happens. I would try longer baths and slowly raise the bath water temperature. You don't want to scald your dragon, but the hotter the water, the more likely he is to poop. You can also try oral fluids, and maybe a...

How long has your beardie gone without eating?

Thanks. I am trying daily baths, and he is taking some fruit on his own, some thin slices pr grape and apple. I think he's just a jerk who likes to see me squirm and try to hand feed him.

How long has your beardie gone without eating?

Blood work is definitely not in the financial cards unless he starts showing symptoms in addition to his anorexia, or starts losing weight. He gets to run around every day, but HATES outside, and will turn black and become virtually comatose and obviously miserable for days after even a short...

How long has your beardie gone without eating?

Mister Charlie, now I suppose almost 2 years old (acquired in October, as a 12", 20 gram 1+ year old, now 17 inches and last weighed around 500 grams has eaten virtually nothing since December/January. He has a clean fecal prior to entering semi-brumation, he is awake now, has lost very little...

    Beardie- too long without food?

WHatever it is, it definitely is NOT because he missed a meal. Obviously, we all want our dragons on the perfect feeding schedule, eating the most nutritious, balanced diet, but missing a meal should not harm them in any way if they are otherwise healthy. My Charlie, now just over a year and a...

    beardie weight

If the vet did a fecal and found no parasites, I would not worry in the least. It sounds like he is trying to catch up with all that shedding. I'm sure he will be fine.

    Yellow Fungus?!? Please Help

Make sure he is getting a calcium supplement- preferably liquid calcium. Even in that baby picture, he looks like he has the beginnings of MBD, so along with the new UVB, extra calcium is really important if he is going to keep his strength up, fight off the fungal infections and recover.

    Scales on his back

Give him a warm bath with a bit of olive oil or vitamin E oil in the water. Let him soak for 5-10 minutes and lightly scrub at his back with a soft toothbrush or washcloth. That is almost certainly shed.

Starting over? Any help would be great!

What is the longest bath you've given him? My guy has been brumating on and off, and I realized at the end of last week that he hadn't pooped in like a month. He was in the bath for about an hour. I just dump it and put more warm water in, and then while he is soaking I add more hot water to the...

    Male dragon biteing females neck

I have the 36x18x18 exo terra, and it is big enough for ONE dragon. It has the same dimentions as a 40 breeder. You do have to be creative with the lighting though so that the top doesn't melt. I have a 50 watt halogen spot light and a a few other incandescent of daylight CFLs around to very the...

    24 hour car trip.

If you are leaving the country, you need to check with customs and the fish and wildlife people. I'm pretty sure you can't just bring reptiles across national borders. As for the rest, the car trip shouldn't be a problem in the summer, heat pad or no. But crickets might be tricky. They don't...

16 hour car trip with a beardie?

I always bring a basking light with me when I travel anywhere overnight with Charlie. And a thermometer. I just use a 60 watt light bulb in a reflector and adjust the distance so that the temps are good. If she is really little, a sterilite tub as a travel cage might not be a bad idea. That way...

Beardie not basking and hiding a lot?

Her weight seems spot on to me. My beardie is 390 grams at 17 inches. As long as she isn't losing weight, I wouldn't be too concerned. Sometimes they just slow down. I'd try to weigh her once a week or so just to get an idea while she is is slow mode.

...8 months, Brandon. Do you know how much she weighs?

Bearded Dragon still in brumation 7 months...

You might need to cool her down before you can warm her up. Brumating is instinctual, but keeping the temperatures in the normal/high not brumation range prevents them from properly cooling and regulating their metabolisms. Bring her down to about 55-60 degrees first, and then very slowly over a...

    Dubia Heat Pad Question!

I've got two certified fire safety inspectors in the family, fires are bad. Some people don't see problems with using Zilla bulbs, some people don't see problems using coils, some people feed only mealworms, and some people's houses don't burn down. Everyone has choices to make, I tend to err on...

    Dubia Heat Pad Question!

I say no heat pad on the carpet. Fabrics and soft surfaces hold on to a lot more heat than solid surfaces, and don't reflect it back the same way that say wood or tile does. This can cause the heating elements to malfunction because of the built up heat, which obviously, is bad whether your heat...

Has anyone ever taken a beardie to the beach?

Australia has salt water. lol. Swimming in the ocean probably wouldn't be bad for them, it is good for skin. Salt water soaks are great for treating wounds and preventing infections too. I think it would be fine, no different than bringing your beardie anywhere else as long as you are properly...
