    yellow tongue and mouth

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. He's much better! He won't let me open his mouth all the way but what I can see of his tongue looks completely normal again. His appetite is great and I am feeding him lots of superworms and crickets to try and get his weight back up. He is still eating...

    yellow tongue and mouth

Hi Tracie! I can't see the inside of his mouth because he won't let me open it. Is there some trick to getting him to open up? I handfed him a bit of mango last night and his tongue looked a little more normal and pinkish where I could see it. We spent most of the day outside yesterday, and...

    yellow tongue and mouth

Hi Tracie, thanks for replying. We had never noticed the yellowish color in his mouth before. He's probably around a year old? The people at the pet store didn't know how old he was when we got him in October. The UVB is at the back of the tank and we keep the basking light toward the front...

    yellow tongue and mouth

Our beardie Charlie has suddenly developed a yellow tongue and back of the mouth. I have been reading everything I could find on it, mainly here at the forum, and I am not sure whether he is sick or it's the normal recessive gene coming out. I don't know how old he is; we got him from a pet...

HOW TO UVB LIGHT FIXTURE AND HOOD

This looks cool and I'm planning to make one. One question though--it looks like your light is sitting directly on top of the tank. I have a hinged screen top that covers my 40 gal. tank. Can the light sit on top of that? would the mesh screen filter the UVB too much? TIA!

Need advice on UVB light fixture for tank

My beardie is in a 36" 40G breeder tank. I had purchased a Reptisun compact UVB bulb before I knew better. It broke yesterday, so now I want to replace it with a tube. But I'm confused about how it should be set up. What size tube and fixture should I get for my tank? And if it's shorter than...

Yeah, the tile sounds like a great idea! I'd like to get a piece of scrap soapstone in there as well somehow, since it holds heat well and is naturally warm. I was just reading the first care sheet which suggests using bleach to disinfect but the vinegar sounds much safer.

Hi! I'm in Essex County in Northern Jersey. I have NO idea where a good herp vet is around here, so I'd love some suggestions as well. This is my first post; we just adopted our first beardie yesterday and found out that our tank (which was purchased last weekend) is too small for the juvenile...
