    brumation again

From what I've read, you should wake them up every few days to give the a soak. This is because in the wild they burrow underground where the soil is fairly moist, which prevents then from dehydrating too quickly. Since they can't do this in captivity, their owners need to find other ways of...

    Chronic limp

My 18 month old male beardie seems to periodically have trouble with his left foreleg - every 4-5 weeks he goes lame and isn't able to support weight on his foot. It usually resolves within a few days, and I'm doubtful that a vet could offer any treatments other than surgery. There is no...

Tom, or any other breeders out there, I need some advice . .

My female just laid 28 infertile eggs - I'm now worried about what to do to help her recover. The eggs were mostly white, a few were softer and orange, which I take to mean that she had a decent amount of calcium in her diet. I'm going to be supplementing her more heavily for the next month or...

Yay! I joined the pringles club!

I just got my second beardie on Saturday - she is a beautiful, HUGE, 1 year old, colourful (orange, yellow, and brown) dragon, and came with a 20 gal tank (her old tank had been broken, I've since moved her into a 55 gal), lights, dishes, and supplements - FOR FREE! No kidding, a woman was...

Anybody close enough to pick up these guys?

I saw these guys on Kijiji, and they look like they are in pretty rough shape - I would pick them up, but I'm too far away (they are in Calgary, Alberta, Canada). http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-pets-other-pets-for-sale-2-bearded-dragons-2-years-old-W0QQAdIdZ255771964

    Introducing Mr. Spikey!

I've checking out this website for a few months and I figure it's about time to introduce Mr. Spikey! National Geographic-esque closeup Nothin' like a good soak! Outside last summer Chilling out (I know, sand = bad, for a while I had one corner of his viv sand so he could dig - now I've...

    Dragon dreams

Last night when Mr. Spikey was sleeping, he puffed up his beard, twitched his leg a little bit, then deflated his beard. I'm thinking he was dreaming about girls! I just thought that was kind of cute.

    pet store pity purchase

Last summer, I went into a nightmare pet store while I was in another town( I say 'nightmare' because as soon as I walked in I was assaulted by the stench of urine an feces, and stacks of animals in filthy tanks lined the walls). Not surprisingly, they had a beardie for sale as well. She(?)...

GGRRRRRRRR . . . .I have had two exo terra 150W sun glo bulbs burn out in the last 2 months - I have the proper exo terra clamp lamp for the wattage, so that's not the problem. Has anyone else had this trouble? Can anyone recommend a more reliable bulb? Thanks

    Tokay terrarium idea

Hi! I want to creating a living terrarium for my tokay, and inside I am thinking of planting a pothos plant and a phalaenopsis orchid - both apparently should do quite well in there, and both are native to Southeast Asia (like the tokay). Does anyone have any experience with living terrariums...

    Reptile Ethics

Hi! I was just curious about the stances people had on ethics of keeping wild-caught reptiles, and I would like to hear a few perspectives.

Ghostrider: not a movie for beardie lovers!

The other night I was watching 'Ghostrider' - it was a decent movie until near the end, where it graphically shows a bearded dragon getting toasted to death! I know it was computer animation, but still! :angry5: That's when I turned it off, so I'm not sure how it ended. It bothers me that that...

    Magic Elixir

The other week my beardie ate the eraser off my pencil. I took him to the vet, and she suggested trying to help him pass it by administering metamucil mixed with water several times a day. Once at home, I made a few additions to the recipe to make a beardie power smoothie. I blended together...
