I think it's time to put my girl down

Thank you for the replies. Tracie, she has been having a hard time walking for a couple of months now. I have been giving her Calci-Blast for about a year now because her tail started to kink, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I pretty much blame myself as I neglected to give her calcium...

    My beardie hates me

My guess is you got her from a pet store and not a breeder. I got my first one from a local pet store was that way out of control. Like yours, she would calm down, but at the first chance, would bolt off as fast as possible. I ended up giving her to a Beardie rescue because I did not have the...

I think it's time to put my girl down

My female BD is nearly 12 years old now, and is having a hard time moving around and is not eating much. In fact her tongue comes out very slowly to get her food. Her eyes are alert for the most part, but I can tell her body is failing her. I dreaded for this time to come, but like all...

    How long do beardies live?

She thanks you. Here she is about month ago on her favorite piece of driftwood out in the front yard.....

Beardies 1 year. Brumation question. Worried.

Sometimes my 11 year old will brumate for 2 or 3 months at a time, rarely moving at all. At her age, I always wonder if she will come out of it, but she always does and is her normal alert self. She hasn't brumated now for well over a year. There never seems to be a distinct pattern when...

    Help! New to beardies

Wow, good looking BD you've got there. Hopefully, you will get many years of enjoyment out of her. Like I said above, my little girl is nearly 12 now and she has been a great pet.

    Help! New to beardies

Mine is now 11 and has never been very active, in fact I would classify her as LAZY! Like yours, even when she was young she didn't do much in her enclosure. But if I put her on the floor, she would wander around for a while exploring everything. As far as feeding her, when she was...

    Megaray lifetime

Every Mega Ray I have had doesn't even last a year. It conks out before then........flickers off and on for a few days, then just quits working. In fact I just put a spare Powersun I had in my BD's enclosure until I can get another MegaRay because hers just quit. Really disappointed in the...

    Moving with My Beardie

When we moved from California to Nevada, I put ours in a shoe box with holes in the lid. She rode with me on the front seat of the U-haul truck and the cat was with my wife in her car. She made the near 4 hour trip just fine. 10 years later she's still doing well. :D

Who has lost their BD to old age?

Thanks for the reply Gail. She is and has been a great pet. In fact, besides the closeup eyesight thing, she seems to eat and act as she did years ago. Even the burst of blood episode she had a few weeks ago didn't slow her down. We came to the conclusion it was a cyst. Hopefully we can...

Who has lost their BD to old age?

Lately I have noticed my 11 year old girl is seemingly losing her eyesight. Since she was little, I have always hand fed her. Now she seems to go after my fingers or thumb instead of the Superworm I offer her. I have to time it just right so she gets the worm with her tongue, instead of my...

    Ugh.......lots of blood

She has always been a great pet. Super docile and always watching what is going on around her in a curious sort of way. She spent about an hour this afternoon soaking up some rays in the front yard. This super low humidity here in the high desert really agrees with her, which I think is one...

    Ugh.......lots of blood

Thanks for all the kind words. Here is a pic of her this morning on her climbing rock, 3 days after the blood bath. Looking just as alert as she ever has. Like I said earlier, this is exactly what happened when she lost a bunch of blood through her vent last August. You would never know...

    Ugh.......lots of blood

She ate some Kale just fine and drank water. The only odd thing is she refused her Calci-blast, which she rarely does. But this morning, she is up and alert acting like her normal self. Obviously, I am not a specialist or a vet, but I would have to agree with ABHD that it is most likely some...

    Ugh.......lots of blood

Hi Tracie, that is only a portion of the blood and yes, it came from her mouth. There was quite a bit more on her substrate. It is roughly the same amount that came out of her vent last August. Totally bizarre, since she acts normal. I was hoping others have had similar things happen to...

    Ugh.......lots of blood

Yea, that's the weird thing...........she acts as normal as ever. She was the same way last August when she lost all that blood through her vent. Acted as if nothing was wrong. I did offer her calcium a bit ago, which she loves, and she gobbled it right up. Then I tried giving her a small...

    Ugh.......lots of blood

Here is a pic I just took, only an hour or so since I cleaned her cage. She is looking just as alert as ever, her head following me around watching what I do.....
