    Which one is better?

If you are getting a SB lamp, get the regular 100watt, not the low one. And the 60watt is EB or, externally ballasted and they last longer and don't put out heat like the SB does.

Hijacking! Who doesn't love a good adventure?! Where we headed? :-)

    broke 50 watt basking bulb

I would but, with a Beardie, a Leo, two rampaging Monitors and my life, I don't have time to be old!!! :-)

    is it really not safe?

Your Welcome :-) The only thing I do different is this: 1. Raise the Basking temps to 115 or maybe a degree or two above, the bit higher temp helps them pass any sand they may ingest 2. As with anything, heat makes them dry out faster so if you do that just keep him hydrated. I keep a dish of...

What do you guys think about this? Using an MVB with a Refle

Oh, I guess that's what happens when I get lazy and don't read the article and only look at the charts. That makes sense, stupid brain, why didn't you think of that? :-)

Ahh, well... Don't I feel stupid. :-) Please excuse me if I offended anyone, I get grouchy when I'm tired. Sorry! :-)

It's 9:35pm over here, but I was ready for bed at 7:00pm. :-)

What do you guys think about this? Using an MVB with a Refle

Sorry, I didn't realize you posted. What I meant by increasing life was, with the reflector on a Zoo Med Powersun it said it was putting out 600 uW/cm2 and without one it was putting around 200 uW/cm2. So at maybe 10 months it puts out say 50uW/cm2, with the reflector I would assume that reading...

I should go to bed now, I get weird and silly when I'm tired. :-)

    broke 50 watt basking bulb

I was using the roundish shaped bulb with a white coating inside. I didn't catch how you worded the sentence. I'm ready to go to bed too, I'm falling asleep. :-) See ya later. :-)

    broke 50 watt basking bulb

Of course, it makes perfect sense. Any bulb with a clear face and a reflective coating is going to produce higher temps than a bulb with a white coating. :-)

    broke 50 watt basking bulb

I'm not sure, it wasn't cold. It's just that one specific rock just doesn't heat up well, I'm guessing it's something though because it's only that specific rock. Maybe it just doesn't like me. :-)

    broke 50 watt basking bulb

An infared Temp-Gun but, I also forgot to mention something. It was on a very dark rock so I think it just absorbed the heat. I also tried it on sand and light colored tile and it worked fine. Sorry, I just forgot to finish what I was saying. It did work just not on the really dark rock. :-)

    New Beardie Website

I'm sorry you feel that way, but no it's not. It's called constructive criticism and it's very good, reliable advice from experience. How is that bad?

    broke 50 watt basking bulb

I don't know about you guys but I tried experimenting with that. I used a 100w house bulb and I had to put the fixture like 4" away to even get the temps to 106 degrees and even that took all day. :-)

    Tiling Enclosure Safely

Just a suggestion, I use tile too but I didn't grout it. I put down about an inch of washed and sifted playsand then just put the tile on top and filled the gaps with more sand. It helps because then when your beardie really makes a mess you can just take it out and rinse it off in the tub. You...

    Computer fan

Okay, I could rig a fan, I would just have to do some tinkering. personally I would just cut bigger vents and cover them with screen. Look at the bright side, bigger vents means bigger areas of screen. And what Beardie doesn't love climbing screen? :-)

    Computer fan

I understand if you really just want to use the computer fan, if you don't want to do it another way feel free to tell me. :-) Is it a possibility for you to just cut bigger vents on the side? My brain is thinking of a fan I've seen that plugs into an outlet that had holes like a computer fan I...

    Computer fan

How big is the tank? If at all possible (not sure what the tank is made of) the easiest and cheapest way to help it cool down would be cut a vent in the top. Depending on tank size, could you cut out a 12"x12" square on the cool side? Heat rises, so a vent on the side isn't a very efficient way...
