Beardie just laid eggs, need help

Well first off I thought she was a boy so I'm shocked =O My little girl just laid like 20+ eggs and she showed no signs of being pregnant. I just thought she was a little on the chunky side. Anyways I was just wondering what I should do? Do I remove the eggs right in front of her, will that...

    mites in roach bin

I noticed that I had mites the other day and here's what I did to remove them 1. I removed the egg creates that had the most mites. Usually it's the ones that are closest to the food / water. 2. I removed the top of the roach bin for 2 weeks. This decreases humidity which mites need to live...

HELP! How long does it take to establish roach colony?

I ordered 250 and started feeding right away. I then had to order another 500 roaches. I let them do their thing for 2 months and I've been feeding out of my colony for over 6+ months now.

I think I ordered wayyy too many roaches...

650 roaches aren't too many trust me. If you're beardie is like ours it will eat anywhere between 10-20 roaches a day. So lets say 15 on average per day 15 x 7 = 105 a week That's 6 weeks worth of food if he averages 15 roaches per day. If you find that you do indeed have too many roaches...

    Brumation Haters Anonymous

My beardie has been acting strange for like 6 months now. He has all the signs that he's burmating but it seems like a really long time. He rarely eats worms or greens (hasn't lost any weight though). He rarely moves, he normally sits in his cave all day long. Sometimes he will sit in there for...

Sits in his cave all day

Okay I redid his temps and found that they were a little colder then they should be. I fixed the temps and he came out of his cave and started basking. However, that was short lived. He then went back in his cave and he spent all yesterday in his cave. I checked on him today and he hasn't...

Sits in his cave all day

I'm retaking the temps right now. I'm using a digital thermostat with probes. Last time I took the reading it was 104 basking and mid 70's on the cool side. That was about a month though.

Sits in his cave all day

Well over the past couple of months I've built him a few caves and he never used them. I'm not sure if he was afraid of it or what. About a month ago I made a simply brick cave and he loved it. However, now he never really leaves the cave. He will sit there all day long unless I move him. He's...

    Will only hand feed?

Hmm that's a good idea with the bowl. The reason I started hand feeding him is because he wasn't eating well and I felt bad. I guess he liked that so much he demands it now. I haven't tired to leave him alone for a day or 2 but I will give it a shot. I figure if he gets hungry enough he will...

    Will only hand feed?

Okay so my beardie has become so lazy that he will no longer eat the bugs in his tank. I must hand feed him or he will not eat. If I drop the roach he will not chase it. He just looks at me like I'm a bad person for dropping his food lol. Anyways I'm getting sick of hand feeding him all the...

    Fruit Flies >=|

Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of these things? I'm not sure where they came from, but they will not leave my colony alone. Every couple of days I open my colony bin and lift the water dish up and find maggots under the dish. I clean them all up and kill all the fruit flies I can find...

    My Dubias arrived - yeah!

Just a tip on the water crystals...less is more. I put 1 table spoon with of water crystals into water and it made ½ gallon worth of water crystals. So until make a few batches of water crystals I would just put like ¼ table spoon worth of water crystals in. Also the trick to the water...

    Crickets are nasty!

Crickets are just nasty nasty insects. Not much you can do about it until you get your colony up and running. I used to buy like 200 at a time and a few days later the room I kept them in would start to smell really bad.

    dubia

Buy 2 car washing buckets and drill holes in them. Use a 3/8 bit for one of the buckets and 3/16 for the other bucket. Then simply take your egg crate with your roaches on it and shake them into the buckets. The small roaches will fall through the holes the big roaches will not. As for having...

    feeding off some Dubia

You should be able to start feeding them off right away. Just make sure the roach isn't longer then the space between your beardies eyes. Also you're in for a rude awakening if you think just because they are small they wont eat a lot. When my 2 beardies were babies they could easily put down...

    Dubia troubles...help!

Aren't you supposed to not feed them high calcium diets as it will kill them? I've always heard high protein low calcium diets and dust them with calcium with d3 before feeding your beardie.

    Dubia troubles...help!

I've actually had quite a few experiments with feeding my roaches. I've tried the following Crushed up high protein cat food - Roaches wouldn't touch it and were dying because they weren't eating. I didn't know roaches could be picky eaters! Dubia feeder food from TheFeederStore.com - They...

    oh jeez, now i see....

Yeah my colony has been going for almost 3½ months now and I think I still have 1½ months left I would say. I however bought 500 roaches and stored them in 1 bin to start my colony. I also bought 500 feeder roaches and stored them in another bin. I feed from the 1 bin and leave my colony alone.

    Dubia troubles...help!

    1. Clean the tank often. I clean mine every other week but that might be an over kill. 2. What are you feeding them? Their diets affect their smells quite a bit. I found that if I feed them a lot of oranges they have a really strong tart smell. 3. Make sure you remove any dead roaches as soon...
