    Possible Injury

I was trying to put a fluorescent light fixture in Libby tank and it slipped and fell on her back. It only fell about 6 inches and she hardly had any reaction. But the fixture has a little weight to it. I took her out and felt around her back and sides. I didn't feel any injuries or breaks...

    Help with Reptisun!!!

Well, my fixture is a little different than yours. I have an under-cabinet one that is more horizontal, while yours is more vertical/dropped down. It was the only one I could find. If I wrap chains around it, it spins around partly on its side. I was thinking of using the 2x4s, but the bulb...

Helping a corn snake shed? Hasn't eaten in weeks.

You could also try the damp pillow case method. Just stick them in a damp pillow case (I use lukewarm to just slighty warm water so they don't freeze). The moisture will help loosen the skin and the snake moving in the pillow case will help rub it off. I hope he's doing better soon. Good...

    Help with Reptisun!!!

I just bought a reptisun fluorescent tube and an under-cabinet fixture for it. One problem, I can't seem to get this thing in the tank. I have a 75g. If I rest it on the top of the tank, the bulb will be about 12-14 inches away from the basking spot. Plus there is the plastic support beam in...

Loose stool and sleeping a lot

She had a fecal a few months ago and nothing was found. Would the silkworms cause her to have runny stools? I'm going to Home Depot or something to price the fixture for the reptisun. Why is lighting so stinkin difficult lol. Hopefully a bulb that has a "clean" history will help her out.

Loose stool and sleeping a lot

So Libby has taken to going to bed early lately. I'm home by 5pm and she is usually in her den asleep. She used to stay up until between 8:30-10:00. Also, she's been pooing everyday (not normal for her). It seems to be quite runny. Of course I think she goes during the day and when I find...

    My snakes :)

The effects of it are usually swelling, nothing too bad. Here's a site that shows the worst bite thats been documented (and done on purpose). http://www.herpnet.net/bite/ The guy let the snake chew for about 5 minutes. Not the smartest thing to do  And unless you have an...

    Having trouble eating her salads

I switched her dish to a flat, plate-like dish but still no luck. The taller bowl didn't work either. I think she needs beardie contacts.

Thanks Barbara! Being as the tank is 48" would a 24" tube be ok or do I need bigger one? My tank has a plastic bar across the middle of the top that always gets in the way :?

    Having trouble eating her salads

For some reason, Libby seems to be having trouble eating her salads. She walks up to the dish and tries to grab stuff, usually with her tongue, but always misses. Whether I raise the dish, lower it, pile the food in one spot, spread it out, she just can't get a hold of it. She usually gives...

    Balrog had her first silkworms!

I just got my first order too. And boy does Libby love them. I don't touch them too much either. I use feeder tongs to get them out. I figure that why I also don't touch the others and kill them off. I have touched a few though and they aren't that bad. Hornworms on the other hand, I won't...

I've been using a Mega-ray for a little bit now. She always has her eyes closed though so I'm a bit worried. Plus she is no longer eating her veggies. Although she'll eat her bugs so she may just be going through one of those stubborn streaks. The eye thing worries me though. For those...

    My snakes :)

The hognose was my first snake actually. Some people say they aren't good beginner snakes but I didn't have too much trouble with him. You need to make sure that the breeder has them regularly eating pinkies though. Most hognoses eat mainly amphibians and it isn't easy to switch them over...

    How to place the Reptisun

Hi! I'm thinking of switching from a MVB to a reptisun but was wondering how I should go about mounting it. I have a 75g and I generally keep the screen top off. So how would I get the tube in place? In so confused! Erin

    spaz the baby frilled dragon!

Oh, good idea! I'm always interested in seeing set-ups. I can read and read all the care sheets available but unless I see something, I'm still unsure.

    Eye closed okay sometimes?

I was wondering this too. I have a megaray and Libby has her eyes closed a lot. Hopefully someone will know and be able to help us out :)

    My snakes :)

The gray and orange one is actually a Gray-Banded Kingsnake. They don't seem to be real common in the pet trade for some reason. I believe she is a light-phase blairs but I'm not exactly positive on that one. I'm still learning about them and there isn't a whole lot about them. The hognose...
