There is a recipe somewhere in this thread. Ingredients are expensive though.

Reanimating Hornworms (new pics - Pupae!)

Just a comment referring to the recipe. I've done some digging on my own in reference to making my own hornworm chow. I read on one of the agar sites that agar is a vegetarian replacement for gelatin. So that makes me wonder what purpose the agar serves in the hornworm chow. It doesn't seem to...

At this rate that's the best I can think of. I haven't been able to come up with anything else.

    Dubia Die off?

Well, I've recently begun to sell off my colony due to the fact that I'm moving and can't keep a colony where I'll be. I've had someone purchase some roaches from me twice, and in this second shipment, he says they've been dying off, I'd estimate from what he's said to me a loss of 20-30, if I...

Lets start a topic on the best companys to order feeders fro

I like Great Lakes Hornworm for my hornworms and supers too. I like getting Charmander some hornworms for a treat and usually stock up on some supers as well since my dubia colony still goes from stages of lots of good sized roaches to not so many. You can also order different sizes of...

    Frozen bugs?

I'd give them a bit more time. I had that happen to me with a shipment of supers I got. The first one did actually die, then I thought the replacement shipment died too until I left them a few hours and returned to find lively worms. So contact the vendor in case they really are dead and give a...

    Superworms Acting Weird

I thought the cannibalism was usually due to lack of water? Which it seems should not be your problem in this case . . . . . So ... Bump for someone else with an answer and because I'm curious to know too.

    stubborn relatives and feeders?

Of all the feeders, I believe dubias are the most well endorsed by the beardie owning community :-P If you have crickets and they hate them, you can always mention the pros to having dubia vs crickets.

    stubborn relatives and feeders?

Parents will be parents. And unfortunately, some people will hold their revulsion to roaches despite what you tell them. Even some beardie owners hold true to a roach revulsion and seek alternate feeder methods. I don't live with my parents, but live with a friend's family. I just tell them I...

    Roach chow?

I have a separate small container for roaches I will feed in the next few days. I have used to fluker's gut load with no problem. So I'd say if you're feeding them fairly soon, it won't hurt.

    Memphis Breeders

Not aware of any local breeders. Though I will note that there is a reptile rescue in Memphis that may have a beardie in need of adopting.

    Superworm heads

Heh yeah. I remember someone at the pet store telling me to cut off the heads of supers before feeding. She never could explain why, and I never cut them off anyway. *Shrug.* No harm done.

    dubia colony

I have mine in a 30 gallon glass tank with an under tank heater. I just used newspaper to cover the sides, have a mesh screen on top, and have a blanket over that to keep the heat in, roaches seem to be fairly active. I would say to give them their dark though.

How long until Adult Dubia start to breed

Lol I can attest to the laundry. I was counting up my males and females to take out some excess males. I guess somehow one of them escaped in the process as I found one of the males in my bra the next morning . . . . Guess men are always trying to get in your underpants regardless of species...
