Hi all - as I mentioned in my introductions post, after an 8 year hiatus, I am re-entering the beardy world with a surprise dragon for my 9 year old son that I am temporarily calling Fireball until his forever human picks his forever name.
In addition to his surprise, I am also building a...
Thanks! "froggie" seems to love it and spends a ton of time in the water chasing down the little white cloud minnows in there. He's not very good at catching them but he seems to enjoy himself.
For the moment, he's in a little 20g with a zoomed 10.0 and 25w basking light on one end. He's...
Hi all!
It's been about 8 years since I posted here and since I rehomed my bearded dragon, Elliot, after the birth of my first son.
He now 9 years old and has shown quite the interest in slimy and scaly critters. At the moment, he has a Pixie frog that he has taken incredible care of for the...
I tackle this in two different ways...
1. Feed it to him by hand - he seems to enjoy that
2. make a pile and he will eat the pieces that he can actually get his teeth on. Then throw the rest away.
Plexiglass is toxic....when melted! Unless you plan on making a flaming plexiglass soup in your cage, you have no worries. Well, that's not entirely true - you may find yourself getting frustrated at the scratches from your dragons "let me out" dances
To expand on that slightly, there really aren't ANY good foods to feed 24/7. A varied diet is best. Crickets here, butters there, hornworms for desert, etc....mix it up!
Actually, there are a few charts that I have found with that info. That is actually why I made my claim that they have more calcium that crickets.
Here is a quick google search that list calcium content. I forgot the list that did a great side by side comparison with multiple common feeders...
Butters are not high in fat. As a matter of fact, they have less fat and more calcium that crickets. They also have almost as much protein.
The term "butter" seems to lead a lot of people into that high fat misconception.
Every year, there is a trade show called Intersolar in San Francisco. If you visit, http://www.intersolar.us/ I am sure that you will find a company or product that makes exactly what you need.
Good luck and keep us posted! I think this is a fantastic idea
you don't need anything that I have highlighted in red
that should leave you with:
