what kind of water should be used?

I didn't know that it was the same as tap water. I guess I'm more concerned with chemicals/buildup that could be present in our pipes, as we have a rather old house. We just have the one, so a $1 bottle probably goes a while, I could see it being expensive if you have several.

what kind of water should be used?

We use bottled water, just to be safe. You can buy 2 1/2 gallon "off brand" jugs at Big Lots for just a $1. Also there are sams club and wal-mart brands. I think it's worth the money just to be safe. And, it's easy very convenient to keep near the tank.

    When is she full?

Great! Thanks for the advice, so just put her in a smaller feeding tank with many crickets, and remove her after 15 minutes? Adding more if she eats all of those? Is that the best way to go? Thanks!!!

    When is she full?

How do I know when a little bearded dragon is full? We have fed her about 7 crickets today. It's her first day home with us, but she was a little plump in the tank, she might be older than the rest of them. Not sure her exact age. Do we keep offering crickets until she refuses? Is it...

    How To Make Do Temporarily??

One piece of advice - we too jumped in a little too fast, and had to quickly replace/upgrade lights. Lots of times, if you can keep the box, even if it is slightly used they can be returned for store credit.... just worth a try. I got about $60 in store credit taking back bulbs that were...

Soon to be a new co-owner (again)/ need advice already ...

Thanks for the replies! We did go ahead and get a new one from the same petstore and what a difference. "She" (we think) is running around, and waving, and returning to the basking spot often. Looking back at the picture we have from the first day we got the other one, he doesn't seem well...

When should be the first vet visit?

I know!! We should have, the sad thing is I bought my boyfriend a giftcard for petsmart and he choose a beardie. It was sick already (we think, especially looking back at his pics from the first day home) and he passed, despite EVERYTHING we tried to get him better. They allowed us to bury...

When should be the first vet visit?

If we get a bearded dragon from the petstore, when does he need his first vet visit? Does he just need a checkup? How often after the first appointment? Thanks!

Soon to be a new co-owner (again)/ need advice already ...

I am Kristen. I gave my boyfriend some general reptile supplies and a giftcard for him to choose one for our anniversary. He did some research, and got a little beardie. Then he did more research and kept upgrading almost daily to better and better supplies. The little guy seemed to be sick...

Keeping hot lights as safe as possible

We had a little baby bearded dragon for about a week and it got sick pretty fast. I tried everything I could to get him better during the final few hours when he was getting worse and worse. As I was trying to deal with the inside of the tank, I slid the screen top back afew inches to offer...

BD seems ill, petstore said put him 3-4 inches under light?

If you have any opinion as to what happened. I would like to know. I feel so guilty as if I had done something wrong. The thing is after 2 days of not eating and not moving, he finally got some energy, I was so sure he was going to be OKAY, then he just suddenly died... I am so saddened by...

BD seems ill, petstore said put him 3-4 inches under light?

I am very saddened to say that "Google" did not make it. I tried everything I could although my boyfriend was primarily the one taking care of him, so I know he knew more than me, but he was not here today, so I was doing all I could. I never let the temperature get to 125, although I did...

BD seems ill, petstore said put him 3-4 inches under light?

Not sure if my boyfriend may have already posted here. He (we) recently got a bearded dragon who seemed to be doing fine the first few days until Thursday night/Friday morning. He stopped eating at all (veggies or crickets) and just stayed under the heat lamp with his eyes closed all the time...
