Are you sure that the dead roach isn't actually just the molt. It can look exactly like a roach with feet and all... I thought the same when I first seen some.

Dubia do not fly...they can use there wings for more of a controlled fall. Dubia can climb up the side of a bin which is not smooth. To fix this you can put a strip of packing tape around the top of the bin and they will not be able to climb on that. I am not sure if the the tape will stop...

I use a high protein dog food which I have around the house already. I bought a cheap coffee grinder to grind up the dog food... probably cost me $10 to $15.

You may be right that 4 months is a bit optimistic... but I would think that with the correct setup it shouldn't be to far off.

The way I clean it out is remove the water crystals and food. Then shake the crickets out of all of the egg crates and remove them. I then tip the bin so everything falls to one end. Then I wipe out the other end with a damp cloth then put the egg crates back in and let the crickets move back...
