    Roach Breeding question.

Are you sure that the dead roach isn't actually just the molt. It can look exactly like a roach with feet and all... I thought the same when I first seen some.

    Dubia or Lobster Roaches

Dubia do not fly...they can use there wings for more of a controlled fall. Dubia can climb up the side of a bin which is not smooth. To fix this you can put a strip of packing tape around the top of the bin and they will not be able to climb on that. I am not sure if the the tape will stop...

    Roach questions

I use a high protein dog food which I have around the house already. I bought a cheap coffee grinder to grind up the dog food... probably cost me $10 to $15.

How many Dubia/how long will it take to have enough.

You may be right that 4 months is a bit optimistic... but I would think that with the correct setup it shouldn't be to far off.

    help on expenses

I wish I would have started a Dubia colony before I got Oliver. I have bought roaches from theroachguy.com and http://buyroaches.com/ I recommend both. There are many others available as well. :)

How many Dubia/how long will it take to have enough.

You are going to need say anywhere from 135 to 180 female Dubia to feed your 3 berdies (this is an estimate from what I have read). If you get a mixed 500 nymphs or so that should equal out to 250 ish females in 4 months. I try to keep my ratio of male to female to around 1 to 10. To many...

How many Dubia/how long will it take to have enough.

I recommend buying as many as you can afford if you want to start feeding asap. The more adult females you start with the faster your colony will grow.. I believe it takes about 4 ish months for the babies to become adults... but someone with more experience can correct me if I am wrong. If...

I have 1 beardie named Oliver he goes through about 1k crickets every 2 weeks. He is around 17 inches at about 7 months old. Got him from the local pet store Just before Christmas. He was very small at less then 4 inches! I get him to eat a nice large bowl of collard greens or else he would...

    2000 crickets

The way I clean it out is remove the water crystals and food. Then shake the crickets out of all of the egg crates and remove them. I then tip the bin so everything falls to one end. Then I wipe out the other end with a damp cloth then put the egg crates back in and let the crickets move back...

    2000 crickets

The best way to keep crickets is to use a plastic sterilite bin with a hole cut in the top for ventilation. The clear bins they cannot climb the sides. Cover the hole with a screen to prevent escapees. I put egg crates or paper towel tubes in there with them. I also use water crystals as...

    where to get crickets

I have used Cricketsonline.com and premiumcrickets.com both places I recommend. I prefer crickets online because of faster delivery "next day" and free shipping. It is usually best to buy from who is closes to you for cheaper shipping costs. I have also bought Dubia which are happily doing...

    Roach Colony Care?

I recommend using clear packing tape instead of the Vaseline around the top of the container it is smooth and the roaches can't get any grip on it. The best thing you can do for them is give them heat, food, water and neglect. I try to bother mine as little as possible. I have seen some...

    Roach Size seperation

The Roach Guy has a good method I am planning on using. It involves drilling holes in the bottom of a bucket. This can be used to clean the bin as well as separating the roaches to the size you want. See the link below. http://www.theroachguy.com/caresheet.htm
