tiny flies/gnats in my dubia colony! Help!

I have been struggling to get rid of these tiny little flies for some months now. I have cleaned the colony and replace egg crates a few times, but they keep showing up. I don't know what they are or where they came from, but I think they are laying eggs in or on my adults somehow because I am...

    Mega Ray/ T-rex wattage question

If you have open top vivs then you have a lot more "play room" for adjusting the height of the bulb and the temps in the viv. Heat from the MVB can easily escape. I have my megaray inside of my 4x2x2 and I watch my temps closely because those bulbs can get hot and it has nowhere to go inside of...

    Viv is finally complete!

No sweat! 8) You could send me a private message (PM). If you click on the PM icon next to one of my posts, you can send me a message directly. I use a megaray. From what I have read, it is the top of the line. T-Rex is made by the same people and probably comes in a close second. Be sure to...

    Viv is finally complete!

If you are talking about the door tracks, I got my original ones from here (but I couldn't use them): http://www.amazon.com/M-D-Building-Products-Aluma-Slide-Sliding/dp/B00173CQ7O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1230873116&sr=8-1 Then I found a local glass shop that cut the glass and provided a...

    Viv is finally complete!

Absolutely! It would not be too much. It needs to be at least 24-30" tall to insure that you have adequate distance between the MVB and your dragon. I don't use night time heat. The room temperature in that room doesn't go below 75 so that's perfectly fine. If I did need night time heat, I...

    Viv is finally complete!

I have 3 fixtures. All are mounted to the top of the viv (inside). I have one 36" flourescent tube fixture and two basking fixtures on opposite sides of the viv. one has a 100watt MVB and the other has a 35 watt halogen.

My 3rd Mega ray has just burnt out already!!! Whats happenin

Is this actually a MegaRay or some other brand of MVB? I didn't know you could buy a MegaRay in a store. Do you use a surge protector? I don't know if this is the cause, but it is a thought.

    Viv is finally complete!

Thanks Elora! I mostly followed the directions found in the Care Sheets and Articles section of BD.org with some tips from a few other sites. It was pretty easy.

    Viv is finally complete!

Thanks! My dragon also grew 2 inches within 3 weeks of being in it. My dragon won't eat crickets so I don't have that problem. It could be an issue though. The gaps that the sliding doors create are pretty small, but it would be possible for a determined cricket to squeeze through there. The...

    Building a Huge enclosure!

NO! This distance is not based on the heat. It is based on the UVB output. Any closer is damaging your beardie with UV radiation. AND don't put an MVB on a dimmer. It could blow much quicker. They are not designed to go on a dimmer switch.

    Viv is finally complete!

Haley, I've noticed your dragons in the sig line for a while now. What are those?
  16. gregorydragon

    Ah finally!

Cute little beardie! I just read your thread about the enclosure and temps which lead me to here. I think I can fix the picture problem. I hope you don't mind if I post them here for you: I would agree that he looks like a normal at this point, but you don't really know what kind of colors...

    Building a Huge enclosure!

Even if you don't get a stained wood finish, you would want to seal the wood. Is your fake rock going to cover the floor too? You gotta clean up the poo and you don't want it soaking into your wood :puke: You might need to order panels that are 5' x 10'. I haven't looked for those...

First attempt Fake rock - pics

Wow! This looks great! :blob5: :blob8: A few things to consider: How will you get it in? You might need to cut it into 2 or 3 sections so it could be taken out, if needed. On the left side, could you just glue a strip of styro along the edge (underneath) to create a ledge for a partial hide...

    Addiction! Can't get enough!

No No! We're not saying that at all  It has more to do with baby babble singing like you do for newborns and puppies (and apparently baby beardies). Actually, I do enjoy watching my BD scratch his head like a dog. Is that a growing collection of...empty viv's?
