best substrate for a dig box for a beardie who licks everything??

ive had my guy for about 2 years now, and i dont know how this is the first time im noticing this behavior, but id like to remedy it with a proper dig box. hes a sexed male, so this isnt gravid behavior for sure (we just had xrays done and hes a certified not gravid boy, lol!) , but whenever i...

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

he is doing just fine as of late :) after this post he had a few minor issues, but they cleared up after a full head shed and close assisted care. if your dragon is experiencing the same issues, my best (temporary) advice would be to: 1) move your beardies basking spot a safe distance from their...

100W vs 160W bulb for basking?

alrighty. i like what you said about the T5 and heat bulb a lot, i was trying my hardest to figure out which heat bulbs you could pair with a T5 and i was having a hard time. if you could send possible links to what you use for that kind of set up, thatd be super neat :) i've been using MVBs for...

100W vs 160W bulb for basking?

awesome! i found the arcadia you were talking about and was actually surprised by the price, as its not that bad at all, especially if they last as long as you say! if i were to pair it with a T5 tube from the start would it be alright?

100W vs 160W bulb for basking?

cool :) i saw a lot of people on here talking about the arcadia, so i think ill see about that, too. another i was looking at was the powersun, which is very nice as it seems to last a while longer than some MVBs and is easily locally acessible to me. i was planning on setting up a separate UVB...

100W vs 160W bulb for basking?

ive been having a little trouble deciding which to use for my dragon. for most of his life, hes basked under 160W MVB bulbs, even since we rescued him. recently, i switched him to a 100W bulb just to see what would happen, and he is not liking it at all. dark most of the day, not flattening his...

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

hi!! hes doing amazingly today! last night, after a saline wash, a large piece of shed detached from under his eye :) a christmas miracle! as of today he seems to be shedding the rest of his eye, consistently popping both of his eyes but being perfectly able to see. no yucky watery closed eyes...

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

id also like to add! i was doing a lot of research last night in terms of light distance for him, and it turns out i also had it too close for a few months (since the last time i changed the bulb). ive since adjusted the distance of his MVB and he seems a lot happier to pancake out and bask. im...

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

i know, which makes me very happy! im hoping soon he'll be able to shed properly and this eye issue will be able to go away for good. right now he is out of his tank exploring in the living room around the christmas tree with both of his eyes open and looking fine :) will be keeping you posted

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

hello! he basks pretty evenly, so i dont think his affected eye has been facing the MVB. thank you for the suggestions and tips on the MVB!! id love to stick with an MVB bulb, but i think now i will def pair it with a UVB strip for backup. this morning i woke up to him with his one eye...

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

oh wow this is great info. im looking into a megaray 160 watt as we speak, and the uvb tube fixtures you sent are wonderful help! im hoping after the holidays ill be able to grab these things locally from a reptile supply shop in town and set them up in the same day, but if not i'll be getting...

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

ok!! sounds great. ill look into a new MVB and a UVB fixture and pick them up as soon as i can. if there is shed that you can see irritating him, would it be smart to continue the saline solution flushes? it was hard for me to tell if there was anything irritating him so thank you for that.

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

best pic i could snag. hes chilling out with me right now. he shed around his mouth recently, so i thought maybe he would shed his whole head, but it has not happened yet which is concerning. the eye doesnt bulge or sag very much, just looks very watery.

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

i use a flukers sunspot (MVB) 160 watt that i change consistently every 3 months to keep up with uvb. his warm side of the tank raches upwards of 100 degrees so he is nice and warm. ive never had issues with the flukers sunspot MVB brand before, but if it seems to be causing issues, i can...

one watery, mucusy eye and a bit of lethargy

hello!! for the past week, my beardies been having issues with his right eye. he is not housed in any subtrate as i use a reptile carpet, so i dont think he has something foreign in his eye. i've very recently changed his uvb so i doubt it is anything relating to that. often it will appear...

beardie swallowed something he shouldnt have and bit me...

thanks much! thats so good to hear, phew. i was freaking out a little because hes just fine now (basking, no black beard) but id hate for him to somehow get impacted. ill keep a lookout for his stool and see if anything odd comes out lol and yup, my finger is probably just how youre imagining...
