Adding Variety from the Garden - uncommon greens

Yeah, we have heaps of nasturtium. It's companion planted through the garden so rambles through everything. No need to plant more there. :) We're heading into cold weather, so should prolly put out some cabbages. Lots of kale\brussel sprout hybrid and silverbeet the moment and the garden...

Adding Variety from the Garden - uncommon greens

Hey guys, Looking to add a bit of variety to my Beardie's diet with some garden forage. I've heard they're safe, but has anyone here had any experience with offering the following? Grape leaves (cissus sp.) Hibiscus greens (currently offering occasional petals) Ficus leaves (Danielle)...

Scared my beardie is egg bound

Hopefully you can find someone. Here in NZ, it's dog and cat only :/ I just end up queueing for the one bird/reptile vet in the city. At least working with bird rescue, I kinda have an avian vet on tap. Helps for a good second opinion on my chicken(who are very much pets).

    Finally outta the baby viv

I hope so, was glass running all evening tho. He had been climbing off and onto me and back in before the glass was in all the night before so hopefully just having a bit of wanderlust. Found his bed and settled in on his own last night. 'its on top of the downstairs access' and has been...

    Finally outta the baby viv

I've blocked off the down below for now. It will have hammocks, a big square and rectangle to ease the way down from under the left driftwood 'cave'. There's a square cut out there. The Viv itself is a reptileone 1200x1200x600. I added a level - just plywood and framing timber for legs. The...

    Finally outta the baby viv

Mazdamundi's having a ball exploring his big boy Viv now that it's finally done. He's not allowed downstairs till the hammocks arrive, but Maz seems pretty happy exploring the top for now.

COCCIDIA MEDS DID NOT WORK TWICE HELP!!

Easier for him too - syringes and tubes can damage the inside of the mouth and throat. Him showing an appetite and seeking it out is a good indicator he's ready to get back to eating normally, which is definitely to be promoted.

Not a good eater so far

We'll, looks like he just wasn't settled in yet. My hubby has demanded I now paint the grout like a Warhammer diorama before Mazdamundi moves in so he's still waiting on moving over, but his appetite perked up yesterday. He finally accepted a dried mealworm offered by hand and went into 'hunt...

Not a good eater so far

Yeah, I know the coils aren't great. I bought that one ages ago as a backup/med light and have hardly used it. I know it could be contributing, but no way to set up the t5 with his current as that one's almost a metre long and is a hanging bulb style. Haves special reflectors bolted into the...

Not a good eater so far

Hey guys, Our new little man, Mazdamundi, isn't the best at feeding. At 3 months old, I'd expect him to be gorging on feeders, but he's either very finicky or still settling in. I've caught him taking greens on occasion and is happy to take grubs in his bowl (mostly light BSF with the...

COCCIDIA MEDS DID NOT WORK TWICE HELP!!

Critical care can also be mixed with food offerings to add a bit of variety. Try just a small bit first to see if he's interested before committing to making a big batch. Best to conserve as much crit care as you can for now, but might be good later to get him back onto eating normally.

    New home - always stressed

XD We checked our boy over with a torch to look for signs of hemipenes before we brought him home. Yours may be a bit too big for enough light to get through, but you could always try - you just need a bright torch in a dark room. Flip up the tail so you have a good view of the underside and...

COCCIDIA MEDS DID NOT WORK TWICE HELP!!

Technically, shouldn't need to handle to drip feed, but if is eating on its own, I'd try to make that more appetising over constant had feeding cause I could see a picky dragon getting used to that. Make sure it stays hydrated as much as possible. Maybe try to get a second opinion on a fecal...

Scared my beardie is egg bound

Small animal = big bill every time. Good to hear she finally laid. What an ordeal, but you did the right thing. Egg binding can easily go sideways - just make sure to bulk up hercalcium from now on during laying season. With 31 eggs, I think we know where it all went this time.

    New home - always stressed

We've only had our little guy for a week now and he's not too keen on hunting at the moment. I've gotten him to take a cricket nymph or two in his baby tank (big one is still getting grouted), but at least he is taking dry and greens. It just takes time, I suppose. Makes me anxious tho. Our...

COCCIDIA MEDS DID NOT WORK TWICE HELP!!

Definitely keep him on soft food for a while. If he is passing blood, then his digestive lining is likely adversely affected. (Thankfully, this is one of the fastest healing areas in the body) Coccidia can be a big threat to young animals and those which may be suffering from another underlying...
