We don't know. I posted a pic in the beginning of the thread. Kind of like a second chin on a human, but it became way too large for her. Still she ate and pooped normally, even pooped since last night. Vet did a biopsy when we first brought her in, but didn't find anything. Medicine did not...

Well, folks, sadly, she passed today. The medicine never really helped, the growth under her beard just kept getting larger and larger. Even though she was much more active and ate well in the past few weeks, looks like whatever she suffered from was stronger than her. She was, I believe, 8-9...

I think I've exhausted this vet's ability, even though she claims she knows lizards. She told me if there is no improvement to go see a specialist. The nearest one is several hours away in PA somewhere. We'll see, I guess. I'll visit Home Depot and see what they offer. Any tile would have to be...

An update: Finished the course of medication today. She is a bit more alert and the swelling seems to have gone down a little, but still it is too large. I expect, if the drugs have any effect, the swelling should react positively in the next few days. She has been eating better - I feed her...

Yes, hand (or tweezer) feeding by dangling it in front of her is the only way she's take a veggie, one or two pieces at most. Hopefully, everything will work out. She's my son's pet, he'd be very upset.

I might as well change the bulb. For the price of one Solarmeter I can get about 10 years worth of Reptisun. If only I could get her to eat veggies...it's nearly impossible with her. Unless it moves, she just ignores it. Dangling pieces in front of her nose is not always possible.

I have an unrelated question... I use Reptisun 10 for UVB lighting. I read somewhere that these need to be changed once a year as they lose their effectiveness. Is that true or simply a marketing ploy? I've been doing it, but just curious.

We'll try the medicine they gave her. I think it's one week's course. Hopefully, the results will be positive. It's nearly impossible to find a herp specialist, even in New York.

I thought something soft, similar to sand, might be more comfortable. Hence, the carpet. But that's an idea too.

Took her to the vet. Showed her the post from the other thread and she prescribed the medicine: Sulfatrim and Metacam. Started her on it tonight. Will see if there is any improvement in a few days. Thanks everyone for your help and feedback.

I had reptile carpet originally. It was fine, just had to be washed often, so when it wore out I switched to walnut. She seemed to like it, but, yes, I was aware of potential dangers. I like the entire floor not to have seams and couldn't find a tile that would fit. Didn't think about linoleum...

Sounds good. It actually feels pretty soft to my fingers, but that's just me. What do you recommend long term other than the paper towel?

    Help needed

Thank you very much. This thread is exactly what she has. Other than the difference in their eating habits. I'll try other supplements as well as letting her have water from the dropper, but if the swelling doesn't start going down soon, it's back to the vet, although I might try a different...

    Help needed

I think it's just an angle on the photo I took, there are no lumps. The skin on her body is fairly loose, she should be fatter, in my opinion. Awesome tip about giving her water. After the first drop, when she saw the dropper, she just opened her mouth and waited for it. Question is - how much...

It's evenly spread on the underside of her head. She drinks from her bowl, but not much as far as I can tell. She also gets water from the vegetables. I suppose I can give her some water with a dropper. Other than that, the usual stuff, dusting crickets with calcium and some vitamins (I believe...

Hi 7 year old female. Laid eggs once, perhaps 4-5 years ago. Has never been a good eater or very active, but goes for crickets and butter worms. Standard setup, UV light, heat, crushed walnut on the floor, etc. She has developed some sort of soft mass on the underside of her head. Vet did a...
