    Follicular stasis

Happy to help others out :) Doris had coccidia and pinworms, which took a while to sort out. She may have also had a small impaction which was treated. The vet thought that maybe some neurological symptoms were caused by follicles pressing on her spinal cord, but the adv diagnosis explained...

    Follicular stasis

We did a lot of tests last year, and it turned out that Doris had a few different health problems. Follicular stasis wasn’t one of them despite initial diagnosis. I would recommend doing tests! Sending best wishes to the dragon and owner in question.

    Follicular stasis

Hi :) thanks for asking. The vet changed his mind about follicular stasis, and she seems to be fine. She didn’t lay last year, but is displaying typical springtime behaviour again now so we’ll see how it goes this time! Isn’t it amazing how much energy these lazy dragons have in spring time..

    Atadenovirus

How does colloidal silver work? I don’t think we really get that in the uk. Doris is doing ok, she’s had parasites (now clear) and a possible liver infection (currently having antibiotic injections) and has lost all of her fat pads. But she’s still pretty cheerful, likes to explore and...

    Atadenovirus

That was a really nice video, thank you for sharing! It’s all about looking after the dragons really well :) I will get some of the extracts that you mentioned.

    Sleeping after feeding

Hi Karrie, Doris has an Arcadia tube across the top of the tank and a basking light and CHE above her rock. Temp with a gun on the basking spot is 104. She’s two, and still seems to like it hot! She’s basking all day, and into the evening, looking happy until after the insects when she goes...

    Sleeping after feeding

Thank for telling your experience, DorgEndo. Maybe she is just feeling poorly after eating because of the parasites, that sounds logical. It’s strange that it’s only after the insects though!

    Sleeping after feeding

Hi all, Doris is having some health problems at the moment, and has just had (three weeks ago) antibiotics and deworming treatment. She also had probiotics for about two weeks after. Since then, and only on live food days, she has immediately gone to ‘bed’ at the cold end under a rock after...

    Atadenovirus

So Doris had her vet appointment this morning. The vet seemed to think she was doing ok. She’s only lost a little weight since she came out of brumation, and is bright and lively (most of the time!). He gave her a vitamin shot, which seems like a good idea, and suggested we return in about a...

    Atadenovirus

Hello Tracie, Doris is still doing fairly well thank you. She’s got some maybe neurological problems (forgetting her legs and occasionally rolling) but it’s different to tell exactly what’s happening at the moment as she’s just finished a course of medicine for Coccidia and is also shedding...

    Atadenovirus

Thank you for sharing your stories, MissT. I’m sorry to hear about Huff and Kazi. It’s really helpful to hear people’s experiences with ADV and strange how differently the virus can present itself. It’s a good thing that dragons are pretty good at telling us what they want!

    Atadenovirus

That’s so great, it’s so good to hear that Phoebe is living her best life. We got Doris tested because she’s having apparent neurological problems. It seems like neurological stuff is pretty serious from what I’ve read.

    Atadenovirus

Thank you for your reply. Doris just had a positive viral test for ADV, and I just want to learn as much as I can about it so she can be as happy as possible. We’re going to see the vet on Friday, and I’m sure he’ll have lots of advice but I’m struggling to find any real, in depth information...

    Atadenovirus

Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend Doris and I some reading about adv. It seems like a lot of articles are very old, and we’d love to get some more current advice. Thanks in advance :)

    Follicular stasis

So today Doris went for an X-ray and the vet thinks she has follicular stasis. Id never heard of this, but now I’ve done some research, it does look a lot like it with lots of round objects and a slightly swollen liver. He’s treated her for an obstruction, hopefully, and suggested I go back at...

    Clumsy dragon?

That’s a good tip, and it’s good to know what to expect thank you. Ill definitely ask for copies of the results. Doris is 19.5 inches long and weighs 528g, is that a little chunky? She’s a good eater!

    Clumsy dragon?

It was called trixie reptiland desert pro. I think they’re a German company (we’re in uk). Doris is a good size and shape, so I don’t think it did too much harm but I will take her to the vets for testing as the falling over is worrying.

    Clumsy dragon?

Before I discovered this forum, we followed the reptile shop’s advice on bulbs etc so used trixie ones. Then I followed all the advice on here, what a great resource this website is. I will take her to the vets as soon as pos then, thank you so much for your help Karrie.
