    Starting a build

Hi all - After hours of reading through all the threads in this forum, I'm about to start building a new enclosure for Robert. I've done a bit of woodwork before, so I'm fairly confident with the basics, but I have a few things I'm pondering that I'd love some input on. Thanks for any help...

    Always basking

Yep, he's eating tons (20-25 crickets twice a day, greens at lunch time, hornworms every couple of days as a treat), pooping regularly, and growing quickly. He's healthy and seems generally happy (still a bit unsure of being picked up and skittish outside his tank), so I guess I shouldn't worry!

    Always basking

His UVB is suspended from the cross bar of the tank lid on the right hand side - you can sort of see it if you look closely at the pic. So it’s about 10 inches above his ledge, which should be good for it I think (Reptisun T5 10.0). I guess it is just a favourite spot - I’ll have to sort out...

    Always basking

Robert spends nearly all his time on his basking ledge (where he is in the photo below). He occasionally sleeps in his hammock, very rarely will climb on the wood in the middle (maybe once every 4-5 days for a few minutes), has never gone in his habbahut, and only goes on the ground to catch...

    Too close to UVB?

Thanks all. I figured that it basically would come down to changing the placement of the UVB fixture or changing out his log (which I hate to do because he loves it!). He does have a magnetic 'rock' ledge that he also likes to bask on, so for now maybe I'll move that to be under the...

    Too close to UVB?

We have a great piece of driftwood in Robert's tank that he loves climbing to the top of. However, with his UVB tube (Reptisun 10.0 T5) mounted to the inside of the lid of his tank, he's only about 3-4 inches from the bulb when on top of his log. Is that too close? Due to the shape of the...

    Meet Robert

My son has been asking for a beardie for awhile, so we decided to get one for Christmas. I think I'm far more excited about it than my son is! His name is Robert - I have no idea why, but that's what happens when you let a 7 year old name something. He's about 5 months old and seems to be a...

Buying feeders - how many, how often

Newbie here! We're getting a 4 month old beardie for Christmas, and while I've had iguanas before, this is the first time I'll have to feed someone live food. I've read up on what to feed him and will be starting with crickets from a local pet shop and likely ordering worms online as there...
