    Rescue dragon

I picked up a rescue dragon yesterday. The place I collected him from said he was about 18 months old and they weren’t sure of his history other than he’d been housed with another dragon and likely neglected. You can see from the photos that his leg has been bitten right through although it has...

    UVB tube placement

That’s frustrating. I can see the results posted now and also some photos of Jeffrey and the Zocal-D which Tracie asked me to post. Post 12 and 14.

    UVB tube placement

I’ve been having issues with my phone and it looks like my reply Thursday didn’t post. I’ve raised the height of his rock so it is now 14” from the uvb. I have also posted his results but don’t know how to tag Tracie in them.

    UVB tube placement

I have had a rearrangement and have attached a photo. The basking rock is now 14” from the uvb and 8” from the bulb. Thank you for your help.

    UVB tube placement

It's exactly 15" between the top of his basking rock and the UVB. I could put another tile or two underneath to raise it up higher so he is closer.

    UVB tube placement

No, unfortunately not. I’ll keep trying with the BSFL, dubia and locusts.

I also have a calcium without d3 liquid which I could give him on some days. The top of his basking rock sits 10” lower than his heat lamp and 15” lower than the uvb.

    UVB tube placement

Hi Tracie. I have attached some photos for you. I hope they are clear enough. The Zocal D label wraps around the bottle so it’s not easy to photograph so I have taken a screenshot of it. The vet said to use the dosing on the bottle which is 1ml per 200g of dragon and he’s 350g approx so I’ve...

    UVB tube placement

Ok. I’ll stop the wax worms. If he won’t eat anything else do I just let him go hungry in the hope he will eventually eat something else? We can’t get silkworm in the UK. He was eating salads until recently but he won’t touch them now. The vet just said to continue with the waxworms until he...

    UVB tube placement

Thank you. So it’s 12-15” height from his basking rock and not from the floor. If that’s the case then we are within those parameters. His eating is sporadic. Sometimes he will eat a couple of waxworms and sometimes he will eat 20 of them. He’s not interested in dubia, locusts, BSFL or...

    UVB tube placement

When we initially got him we were told that as the uvb was a d3 bulb that we didn’t need to add the d3 to his food so we had been giving him calcium only on one feeding per day. He started getting sluggish a few weeks ago. Vet treated him for parasites but he still didn’t improve so we had...

    UVB tube placement

I have a T5 UVB strip light mounted on the inside ceiling of our viv which is 24" high. I have read somewhere tonight that says it should be placed 12"-18" away from the dragon. Does this mean ours is way too high or is it ok because the basking rock sits within those parameters? I’m concerned...

    Young dragon brumating

Another quick question if you don’t mind. I have been lifting him onto his basking rock a couple of times a day. Should I stop doing that and just leave him to do his own thing? Thank you.

    Young dragon brumating

Thank you for your reply. Surface temps are taken with a handgun and we have digital probes in both sides. Hot side generally sits 40C and cool at 23C. We have a long UVB which was changed early November and is placed correctly. The top of our tank is wooden so it's mounted inside. I will...

    Young dragon brumating

Jeff is 8 months old and is showing signs of brumation. He saw the vet in early November where he was diagnosed with parasites and given antibiotics. A recent stool test showed this is now clear. They have done a blood test and we are awaiting the results. Jeff is not interested in food...
