My dragon is scratching his head

For the past couple of days, Caramon has been scratching the side of his head, around the back of his jaw. It’s always the same side, and he’s used his rear foot, objects in his terrarium, and even the back wall to try to scratch a spot near the back of his head. He isn’t doing this “all the...

My dragon is a couch potato!

Oh, ok. I had read that it was something that you could give them, but just not in large quantities. I only gave him a pinch of it with his veggies today. Thank you for the info!

My dragon is a couch potato!

So I fed Caramon his morning meal (Superworms (live) and a vegetable medley I made (collard greens, mustard, kale, cabbage, and carrots - all fresh, and in dropping ratios, topped with a raspberry). Pretty much he attacked the bugs and then moved to the other side of the terrarium (the cool...

    Just got my terrarium together

So far he hasn't shown any interest in the skull whatsoever. He's walked around it. Maybe licked it. But other than that, he hasn't paid it any attention.

Caramon had been watching me for an hour...

Caramon was in this position for about an hour, watching me. So, I decided to take a pic of him and what I thought it looked like he was thinking.

I FINALLY got my little buddy! Caramon

So, as the title says, I finally got my bearded dragon. His name is Caramon. (A character from one of my favorite book series - DragonLance. I thought it was appropriate. 🤗) He is a rescue. The person who had him before could no longer take care of him, so I agreed to take him on. He’s 3 years...

I’ll be sure to say how he reacts to the skull when I get him. 🤗

    Just got my terrarium together

With the lid on the temperature of the basking spot was not getting hot enough...it wouldn't go over 90F - and that was with the bulb nearly touching the screen of the lid. Without the lid, I can keep a constant temperature of 100F. I had tried a 125w bulb, but the temp wouldn't get over 80F...

    Just got my terrarium together

I am now almost ready to get my new companion; I just need to get a couple more items and then I can get him. I do have a question about my terrarium, though. I upgrade my basking lamp to a 250w bulb. In order to get the heat up in the basking spot to 100F I had to remove the top. The total...

Insects & Veggies Together or Separate?

Ok, so I get the feeling that it is going to come down to how the little fella is gonna prefer his greens. I may have to serve them separate or I may have to serve them together, it will depend on how he'll feel about it. Thank you for the info!

Insects & Veggies Together or Separate?

Thank you! I appreciate the adding of the reasons why!

Insects & Veggies Together or Separate?

So, I am now getting everything together for what will be my little fella's habitat. After I make sure that I have heating, light, and humidity set properly I will go and get the little guy. I do have a question, though. After reading a couple of books and a lot of the threads here, I know the...

Hello there! Not an owner yet.

I just started reading Bearded Dragon Manual, 3rd Ed., by de Vosjoli, and he’s pretty much said the same thing. I’ve also seen this mentioned in other online writings. I’m definitely considering using tiles, I just need to look up the best way to install them into the terrarium.

Hello there! Not an owner yet.

Thank you for the tips, everyone! I really appreciate it. As to carpet, no. I was considering an Exo Terra Sand Mat: Until he got older. Then the "natural" substrate that I had linked above. That way he had a more natural environment and could dig & burrow if he wanted to. At least, that is...

Hello there! Not an owner yet.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the community and currently I am looking to get my first bearded dragon. At the moment I am doing research and will read up on the care and environment maintenance for a dragon so I can make sure that I have everything in place for when I bring the little guy home and...
