tori uses a second container, too. once a week, on cage cleaning day, she takes the old egg crates and shakes the roaches into the clean container, then uses tongs to pick up any that didn't transfer over. the clean container gets new egg crates and watering crystals. the old crates get tossed...

tori spot cleans for poop, then deep cleans once a week for both sir henry and karrik (the parakeet).

you mentioned a tube UVB and a ceramic heat bulb. can you post a picture of the ceramic heat bulb? if you are talking about a ceramic heat emitter (CHE) that will not work as a basking bulb. that could be a part of the problem here.
