    Trouble swallowing

I haven't specifically asked a vet about respiratory issues, but I know he's an exotics vet and did bloodwork on her, and didn't say anything about it. Do you know what signs to look for if it IS a respiratory thing? She will eat just about anything in any form, so I probably won't have...

    Trouble swallowing

Nala, my rescue beardie, seems to be having trouble swallowing. She has MBD and was put through the wringer with her previous owner, so I don't know WHAT goes on with her insides. :( Every morning I give her a bath and she poops, then I give her chopped up collard greens, about the size of...

    Limp, eye bulge, unresponsive

UPDATE: Just got back from a looong trip to the vet. First the doc said he thought Nala may have kidney failure, and I asked if it would be humane to have her put to sleep if the blood work turned out bad. He said it would be humane. So I'm sitting there with a box of tissues trying not to lose...

    Limp, eye bulge, unresponsive

There's an exotics vet about an hour away, should I be looking to bring her in now? Or give it a while longer? What do you think?

    Limp, eye bulge, unresponsive

Pretty much the same.. her eyes have been bulged out all night. She isn't limp anymore though, but she won't move much.. I think I feel something along the right side of her tummy... my poor girl. I gave her a few drops of olive oil last night and today, she lapped it off her nose. She won't eat...

    Limp, eye bulge, unresponsive

I'm going to try another warm bath, I wish we had a closer exotics vet, I don't know what our regular vet could do. :( She is limp, but if I try to move her she'll move one of her legs or something.. this has been going on for almost 2 hours now. She's also got a history of neglect and MBD and...

    Limp, eye bulge, unresponsive

Last thing she ate was collard greens; yesterday she had a big helping of crickets, which is why I'm thinking she's got an impaction. She does bulge her eyes when she's about to shed, and the black bearding could be shed stress, but the limpness is really worrying me. :(

    Limp, eye bulge, unresponsive

Nala started black bearding and eye-bulging at about 9:00, it is now 9:50. I've had her in baths almost the whole time, thinking she may be impacted. She's now limp and unresponsive, although she is breathing. Looks like she's in pain, I'm panicking. Eyes are all bulged out. She's also going...

    Roach Heating...Another thread

Thanks for the answers and pictures, guys! I have virtually no free closet space (and only one bin, as well), so a whole closet setup wouldn't do it for me. I would like to keep them warm enough to breed, though.. guess I'll have to do a bit more research on UTH!

    Roach Heating...Another thread

I'm glad this thread isn't locked, I've been looking into starting a roach colony but have been hesitant to settle on a heater. I'm afraid of a heating pad burning through the plastic, but I don't know much at all about CHEs.. can anyone give me some advice/links/photos? :study:

    Eating plenty, losing weight!

Would parasites be causing weight loss? Our regular vet did a fecal test for us, but I think I'll take another stool sample to an exotic animals vet. My mom's wondering if baby food could be helpful in the meantime. What do you think?

    Eating plenty, losing weight!

Nala eats her greens like a champ, gos crazy when I give her crickets, she's pooping fine about once a day, and yet is losing weight! I am completely baffled. She's a rescue, I got her in December. I've been keeping track of her weight in a notebook, if this'll help: 1.9.11 - 272g 1.20.11 -...

    Some seriously bulging eyes

Ok, thanks both of you for the replies, I'm a bit less worried now. I did check out that article, thank you! These beardies have the weirdest habits...

    Some seriously bulging eyes

I read up about beardie eye bulging, read that it's probably a "yawn", or something to that effect... could be loosening skin around the eyes.. but the degree that Nala's bulging her eyes is starting to worry me. Here's a photo... (if you've never seen eye bulging, brace yourself)... Eye...

    Sketch of a lazy beardie

My brother likes to tease me about Jasper's weight. He says that Jasper is a "fat, lazy bum who sleeps in rags". (UM, it's a beardie burrito, not "rags"!) Anyway, he recently drew a caricature of my baby which, while completely inaccurate (Jasper does not have an easy chair!), is still quite...
