There are times, after I've handled my dragons, the skin that's made contact with them gets irritated and itchy so yes, I'd say it's cretainly possible to allergic to them.

Going back to the eyes, both of my frilled dragons are rescues and they came to me with photo-kerato-conjunctivitis which is due to bad UVB and it looks remarkablely similar to what is going on with your beardies eyes. I've never used regular saline solution so I can't say how well that works...

It's perfectly normal. I get scratched up on the regular but I don't much complain about the beardie scratchings because beardie scratchings are child's play compared to the scratchings my Handsome Jack (the big ornery green monster) gives me--LOL.
