    Heating issues

I don’t actually have any mesh, it is a solid top. All the fixtures are mounted in the enclosure, and actually already using 2 heat fixtures (you can kinda see them in the pictures I’ve posted here). Thank you for the advice though!

    Heating issues

On a thick carpeted floor near no windows or doors. It is however in my basement which stays rather cool 65 at night 72 during the day. So I think the heat thing is under better control. I added some more thermometers in the tank just temporarily to get some more temps. And the hot side seems...

    Heating issues

Sorry, just a little confused. What do you mean by covering the top with some wood?

    Heating issues

Covered up 1.5 vents (hot side) and temps have gone up slightly all across the board. Peaking around 86 hot side and 84 cool side currently. And humidity has remained much higher than it normally would during the day currently 57-62% humidity. So I’m not sure if this is better or not...

    Heating issues

Got someone to snag a picture of the new basking area. So I guess I’m just concerned with my hot side ambient temp not getting above 85. I’m sure it’s above 85 when you get closer to the basking zone, but you would think the heat would stick around a little bit on the hot side

    Heating issues

I have actually flipped that basking log over to get it closer to the bulbs since I took that picture. I’d have to measure it when I get home, but I’d guess it’s around 15” from the bulbs

    Heating issues

It is a solid top, all of the fixtures are inside the terrarium (attached to the top). You can kinda see in this picture (best I’ve got while I’m at work) The white acurite sensor bottom left; vents at the top and the fixtures. I have since changed those bulbs to the 100w halogens (old...

    Heating issues

The heat seems to rise pretty fast, if I take readings from the top of the tank it can be over 100°. My temperatures are recorded on both sides by new acurite outdoor thermometer/hydrometers. I believe they are supposed to be pretty accurate. But I agree, I’m not sure what to do to fix it.

    Heating issues

Having some trouble narrowing in on my enclosures heating. It’s a new enclosure I just upgraded my guy too, and he hasn’t really basked since being in it. And the temperature readings Haven’t really gotten where I want. Cage is 6’x3’x3’ and has decent ventilation (2 vents high on the hot side...

    Heating/Airflow/UV Question

Yes, thank you. Hopefully it’s just a faulty bulb. Yes it is easy to maintain stable temperatures. It almost does it too well. Outside of the basking zone, whether that’s 12” to the left or 48” to the right it holds between 80-84°. Would love to get a better heat gradient somehow. I am...

    Heating/Airflow/UV Question

Just checked with a different lamp and bulb from a different cage. It seemed to read that on properly, so it must be the bulb then?

Yeah, 4-6 is what I would like. I’m thinking there may be something wrong with my bulb

    Heating/Airflow/UV Question

    If I take readings from ~17” I get a UVI of 2.5-3

    Heating/Airflow/UV Question

Just finished setting up my beardies 6x3x3 enclosure. Quick rundown of the enclosure: - 6’x3’x3’ - Two vents (placed high on the wall) on the hot side and 2 vents (placed low on the wall) on the cool side. - Hot side has a 150w DHP and a 70w halogen (I’m still trying to narrow in on the...

    Wild Beardies Native Plants.

Does anyone know of any plants native to bearded dragon habitat that are safe for them to consume? Looking to add a few native plants to my bio active enclosure. It’s a large enclosure so don’t worry about plant size, looking for all sorts of flora from flowers to shrubs.

    Replicating Natural Sunlight/Heat

I have gone down a rabbit hole or research on trying to replicate natural sunlight spectrum (UV, visible, IR). Along with this, trying to mimic sunrise and sunset. Meaning gradually changing temps and UVI throughout the day, to mimic the natural changes experienced in the Australian Outback...
